Hank Scorpio
What happens to season ticket holders in the north stand when it's rebuilt? I assume they get relocated elsewhere and there are less match day tickets for walk ins?

From what CP says there will be no impact, this to me means that the new North will be built right behind the existing stand, which will be taken down once those ST holders can be relocated to be sitting in the new stand. Stephen_Evans
I'm intrigued to know what they have planned for hospitality areas in the Trinity, as I thought they were in pretty impressive shape already.

I get the impression the cinema/bowling/sports pub is for getting people to come on non match days. Maybe to engage the local community aswell as the fanbase although it’s not a million miles from Star City which serves the same purpose (and is well rough). WHY
Interesting he [Purslow] mentioned the Euros, makes sense that Birmingham is represented if we win the bid for 2028. Would be embarrassing to the city if we didn’t have any games. Am I right in thinking we would get help towards the cost of the rebuild if this was the case? It massively bothers me that teams like West Ham and City got free stadiums on the back of Athletic events. In City’s case it was probably the driver for them being taken over and it meant West Ham didn’t have to spend a fortune upgrading the Boleyn Ground. They are also a far more attractive club to buy for potential new owners who don’t have to spend money on building new stadiums.

It's hard to see how you could build the whole thing without touching what is there unless the new stand is 50m+ from the pitch. I guess if they built the bulk of the structure behind, maybe the summer would be long enough to demolish the existing stand and put in the terracing/seats? Probably not help with the construction costs, but most definitely help with changes to help solves the problems around transport in the area around the ground - improving the stations and access to and from them, changes to road layouts potentially, opening up new entrances to the site - all of that sort of thing, I don't think they'll necessarily help us with the money we spend on our own land, but I think there will need to be a lot of money spend in the area and outside of our land.

It really wasn't all that impressive when it was completed. It's crazy to think it's taken so long for plans to replace it. "Witton Warriors ", anybody? I distinctly remember one home game against Everton when the Witton was half and half and the NS was being built a massive masonary exchange between us and them. I think that was the last game it was ever half and half. Amazed no one got killed

Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted April 14, 2022 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted April 14, 2022 There's a few things that I find particularly exciting about this - firstly that in the video and at the fans meeting, he keeps saying "First phase". I like that. Secondly that there's some positive stuff about working with the council to make significant changes to the area around Villa Park to help this new stadium and buildings work. Make no mistake, if we get this right, this will be the 'Birmingham' that Europe sees in 2028, it's a building that has the potential to define a city. And thirdly, the descriptions - to get to more than 50,000, we're putting 8,000 extra seats at that end of the ground - that's more than double the amount that are there now - you can expect it to reach from Witton Lane to beyond where the corner flag restaurant is now. It will be the biggest single stand at Villa Park. The building behind will be interesting too - it sounds like somewhere that's a crash between Wembley's box park and the Resorts World thing at the NEC - more than one floor of Villa shops, museums, areas for kids, space for fans, restaurants, bars, event spaces and places to be at Villa Park even on non-match days. There was some talk about the potential for having hundreds of Villa fans in this building on away match days, watching games on a big screen - I don't know it that's possible, but it sounds fantastic. The thing to keep in mind with this building is how much space there is back there - if you've been in the old Academy building that acts as a fun zone on match days, you'll know how big that is, then there's the space occupied by the current shop and ticket office and then there's a lot of space behind that - there's no need for Villa Park to be enclosed along Witton lane once the old academy building goes, so you could have the main entrance open up at the Aston Hotel - with that as a gateway to Villa Park in the same way the Holte Pub is at the other end - this development has the potential to reach almost down to the crossing at the end of Witton lane - Villa Park starting thirty feet from there. There's an entrance behind the club shop directly onto Witton Road too which might be opened up - it's a really big space. Even if the new North Stand reaches as far out as the edge of the club parking (that line of white plastic fence thingies or the fence on the players car park) there's still an enormous amount of space, and from what I can gather, the club are thinking big and thinking about all of it. This is a chance to make a statement about who NSWE want and expect Villa to be in the future - everything they've said in terms of their ambitions has been about competing in the European places - this is a chance to develop one end of the ground to a level where it matches and displays that ambition.

Could be, or the new 2nd/3rd tier would have enough seats to accommodate the whole of the current north stand allocation and complete bottom tier during the season maybe, it will be some genius logistical masterpiece that keeps everyone more then happy
ferguson1
I wonder if we’ll do any link up with the Aston Hall grounds? All that greenery is so nice and be a shame if we couldn’t work in conjunction with each other.
villarule123 Posted April 14, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted April 14, 2022 The away-game fanzone idea sounds amazing. I would definitely turn up whenever possible to watch the games with other Villa fans in an away style atmosphere. Would they be able to do it for the 3pm games? Obviously that would lead to eating out, having a family evening with the kids doing the other ideas they've included in the survey. This sounds so exciting!
