I recall reading somewhere that Comolli's remit wasn't to be a scout as such, but was to ensure that the targets that had been identified by the management team actually were secured. Effectively his involvement was to ensure that Liverpool and Spuds got the players they wanted. So yes, I guess he did sign them, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he picked them. If he's doing badly they'll just sack him off and get someone else in until they have someone who gets the results, like all the other money clubs.
