bickster Posted January 27, 2023 Moderator Share Posted January 27, 2023 In the plus column that's a significantly different take on the song in the negative column, it's sucked all the life out of it. Still its nowhere near as awful as the Paul Young version

GarethRDR
Midas Fall releasing a covers EP next month of Radiohead ("who?!" etc.), Springsteen and Placebo. The first two are up for listening, though I must admit I'm not a big fan of their version of Creep; I don't think it does her voice enough justice, she's been spectacular when I've seen them live. I knew they had covered this but don't actually remember hearing it. Their choice of material wasn't always the best, but Karen Carpenter was one phenomenal singer. I think she was still a teen when she recorded this. Setting aside the atrocious treatment of the song, the vocals are pretty impressive for someone so young. I think a lot of people who dismissed them as fluffy pop singers at the time have recognized over time what a talent she was. Her demise was a very sad story.
useless
There's a live version that was a lot better than that one, but I heard it as part of a compilation of their live records, so just posted that studio version.
