He played at left-back for a spell last season, and by the accounts that I've read didn't do very well. I've never heard of him playing in central defence, but from what I've read defending isn't his strength, it's attacking. Someone like Cissokho is more likely to go into the centre of defence in the case of injuries. Besides, we won't be letting Okore go unless there's someone coming in to replace him. we will, he will never ever play for this club again after Luton

Normally ACL injuries can hamper speed and agility, but I'm not convinced this was the case with Okore. For me he has a case of Richardsitis, whereby he somehow thinks it's a good idea to regularly vacate his CB position to try and win the ball higher up the pitch. He succeeds a lot of the time, but unfortunately this is massively outweighed by the times when he fails to win the ball and our backline is totally exposed. What made the 2nd half vs Luton so septic was the fact that we had 2 maniacs at CB vacating the position, with only a bumbling Alan Hutton to cover! He has a release clause and some big clubs have been rumoured to be looking at him and other smaller clubs like Sunderland, Swansea and Hull. No one has met the release clause yet so with the end of the window coming surely someone will have to! Why not us He has started this season in good form as well. 9 goalscoring chances and 1 assist in 3 games. potentially could be missing link we crave between central midfielders and our attackers. Well, you've convinced me. Let's get him!
useless
If we're letting Okore go, it won't be just because of the Luton game, and if he does go either a replacement will be bought in or one of Lescott or Richards will be told that they're going nowhere. I'm not convinced that Okore's actually leaving myself, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

I think he's off to Burnley but he'd be a good signing unfortunately there isn't a loan window anymore. Another stupid UEFA change. It was the perfect thing to stop lower league clubs overloading on players they can't afford. It would've been good for us especially to get unhappy PL players in after the windo closed. Cheers buddy- shame that eh? Fingers X that he has a change of heart and will be prepared to come to the championship- clearly I'm biased but are we still not a better long term proposition than Burnley are- given what the Good Doctor is trying to achieve? Does anyone know if he can play a role in CD if needed??

sne
Really wish we would try for Jonathan Soriano from Red Bull Salzburg. They missed out on the CL this season so there is a minute chance they might sell him. He'd be a perfect fit for the #9 position. Very good and calm with his feet, clinical striker, clever runs, pretty fast and a dead ball specialist

I would think the 4th CB if Okore goes.. may a be a loan CB. Hard to convince someone permanent that they will be a back up. i think the full stop seperating striker and loan player is the hint, that its 3 in total. JAMAICAN-VILLAN
Well, we can speculate all we want, but Tony basically saying we are close means all we can do is sit tight and hopefully be pleasantly surprised. I have a feeling it might be that Viviano guy.

HalfTimePost
Do we? Elphick, Chester, Baker and Richards is four centre backs (even if he should be a RB really). We will struggle to move Richards on but if he is fourth choice we don't need to bring in another and probably shouldn't until we move him off the wage bill. Defence should be sorted now really, 2 Right Backs, 2 Left Backs, Four Centre backs. As well as Richards able to cover RB, along with bacuna

Because we only have three first team centre backs, all of whom have had injury wrecked seasons in recent memory. (and Richards should never be relied on to play for us again)
