StanBalaban
So... to bring this back OT, is there any further news on Ravel Morrison? Someone on Twiter has posted a pic of him from a medical at Lazio, but there's no way of knowing if that pic is from last year. Would a loan player have a medical if extending the laon or signing on a permanent?
StanBalaban
Aston Villa and Sunderland are battling it out to land Bordeaux defender Frederic Guilbert. According to France Football, the two English clubs have been alerted to his potential availability with his contract due to expire this time next year. Bordeaux know that his value will dwindle over the next 12 months and may decide to cash in on him this summer to avoid him walking away as a free agent in 2017. The Ligue 1 club's manager, Jocelyn Gourvennec, is due to meet with Guilbert imminently in a bid to sort out his future, with Villa and Sunderland both keeping close tabs on the situation. http://talksport.com/football/transfer-report-aston-villa-and-sunderland-both-chasing-bordeaux-defender-frederic-guilbert
TrentVilla Posted July 6, 2016 Moderator Share Posted July 6, 2016 Can't see us buying a defender next, not without shifting one or two. It's a forward or two we need now.

StanBalaban
Yep @TrentVilla seems like one of those articles we always seem to get lumped into. "Villa and Sunderland are monitoring..." probably means the same as "we've made some shit up".

It's ridiculous to assert that because he hasn't scored the goals to take a team up yet that he isn't capable of doing so. He's nothing like Darren Bent either. He holds the ball up well enough and brings others into play with intricate forward passing, works tirelessly, can shoot from any angle including outside the box and has 26 assists to go with his 60 goals in the last 2 and a half season. Twenty-six. Sixty. Why is he not in the Premier League? He's 5'9" and he lacks discernible pace. The Championship is his level but he's **** good at it. Benteke at Liverpool is sort of proving the point - certain players score loads when they're the centre of the team, but dwindle when at a bigger club and aren't the focal point. There's really not THAT much difference between being a top Championship player and being a good Premier League player. For whatever reason, McCormack has never made that step. As I said though, he's a hard worker, gets into good positions and makes key passes. He's a team player, not necessarily one you need to build a side around. He has proven, unequivocally and unarguably that if you make chances for him he will score goals, at this level. The level we are at. I then handily provided a reason, without being asked, as to why he hasn't been snapped up by a premier league club. The £13m fee for a 'short' striker with little pace will have been a turn off. VillanousOne
read somewhere Junior Hoilet has been released by QPR, worth a punt? He was decent at Blackburn, not sure he's been that great since apart from a few flashes.
