Why take the risk on a player who likes to party especially when there are other less risky players out there with same ability.

Not applicable IMO and ridiculous to bring up. Like ****. a) You are only as good as the company you keep, and him pissing it up with Gabby et al speaks volumes. he's a professional sportsman. Do you see Chris Froome, Rory McIlroy or Novak Djokovic jetting over to Dubai midseason? There's a reason he's on the bench at Crystal Palace for years and it's because he doesn't want it enough. No thanks

I am referencing to Dwight Gayle, NOT Gabby! I made my thoughts clear on how upset I was with his antics at the time and I have always been one of his biggest supporters. So are we going to pass up on every player which has partied or been pictured drinking etc? You will find your list dwindles quite quickly.

All I'll say is that I think we have enough members of the squad with mediocre attitudes, some model professionals in the Kevin Nolan, Gareth Barry mould would be high on my shopping list.

Palace weren't about to get relegated, unlike Gabby and Richards. Gayle wasn't also pictured smoking a cigar like Gabby, or caught up in online arguments with fans like Richards, as far as I'm aware. 'Player goes to Dubai in mid-season break of bog standard season', isn't anywhere near as bad as 'Player goes to Dubai in mid-season break of relegation campaign and defends himself online by saying its after a long hard season'. I would rather the player who stayed at home perhaps getting in some extra fitness sessions respecting his health and body and team paying him absolutely obscene amounts of money in order for him to perform as a top class athlete in the best physical condition he can be. And yes they do exist but we seem over and over again to sign unprofessional morons about whom we say "oh well they are footballers we can't expect them to be angels" despite the fact we are paying them 100 times more than your average Olympic athlete who is young and full of life but treats his body like a temple because he is driven and wants to be the best. I for one pray the days of signing Dubai party boys are over.

Kuwabatake Sanjuro
Hopefully the club has a bit more vision and ambition than signing the likes of Dwight Gayle. Not much more than a goalscorer, unfortunately for him the only league he has scored heavily in was the Conference North. The Dubai trip alone should rule him out by right. I'd rather someone hungrier with greater potential. Edited June 7, 2016 by Kuwabatake Sanjuro
dn1982
The only reason we knew Gabby and Co were in Dubai was because the media were after them as we were rock bottom and it made a decent story. I guarantee over the years plenty of our players have been there but it's not news when you're mid table. I've no idea of Gayles personality but I think on ability he'd be a good signing. Most of us would have Gareth Barry back in an instant and he's allegedly got an injunction in place due to his off field antics! It's the attitude they have at the training ground that counts.

That's a very good point actually, as players (from various European leagues) are spotted over here quite often. It speaks to the intelligence of our thick lot that they must know they're in the cross-hairs of the redtops and should surely be on their best behavior. Especially as club captains. Dunces! thabucks
Hypothetically speaking Gayle Bamford, Gestede with support from Hepburn-Murphy does have a nice balance to it, and gives us different options to mix up play. Would rather keep Ayew than sign Gayle, but that's gunna be tricky. Gayles trip to Dubai, (maybe unfairly) though has raised doubts about him and his attitude IMO. It's hard not taint him with the same brush as our supposed captains, even though he didn't attract negative headlines. As someone pointed out Palace weren't bottom at the time. But I'm sure for the cash we could find someone else.

Qwpzxjor1
Would rather do what it takes to keep Ayew and Gestede than go after Gayle. Would definitely like Bamford though.

Would rather a big man with a good touch.

He is absolute crap He finished as one of the top 5 goalscorers in the Championship 2 seasons in a row and wasn't even his clubs penalty taker. He's more "proven" then all these "proven" strikers people keep bringing up on here. He outscored Bamford in the same season for a worse team in the championship and then outscored Bamford again last season. Gestede is one of a few players I think we need to make sure we keep. He's one that clearly has his head screwed on, as while Gabby is smoking from a shisha pipe, Gestede is out feeding homeless people.
