StefanAVFC Posted March 30, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted March 30, 2016 Also, Lambert's biggest job was us. Garde's was Lyon. His stock will remain high.

NeilS
I think Garde will be ok. He will most likely get a chance to rebuild his reputation at Lyon going by the comments that were coming from that direction in recent weeks. He was always up against it here, and did not have chance to bring in his own players or shape the squad in his image so I think he will probably escape with minimal damage to his reputation. I will probably follow how he gets on in his next role, if only just to cure my curiosity as to whether he is as bad as his record suggests or if he was really hamstrung by the situation he found himself in here at Villa. His big summer signing was Jon Stead and some of his cheap signings signings went on to have decent enough careers like Liam Lawrence and Dean Whitehead plucked from League 2 (made 6 million profit on them 2 alone)

Not saying Garde will manage Real Madrid next season, just adding some context
NIVillan
I liked him and I think he will be a good manager but he had to go as you could see at the Swansea Game he had given up.
StefanAVFC Posted March 30, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted March 30, 2016 If Garde didn't do a good job at Lyon, then surely nobody would want him back there? All I've seen (from my limited knowledge of Lyon) is that most of them would want him back if they had the choice. As sne says, context is everything but it's easier for some to look at points, or games won and make a judgement.

Basically, the context of your post regarding European stuff is entirely wrong - especially since you're giving a manager with the second worst Premier League record of all time a whole load of positives and saying we should bring him in.
