Duck
Allardyce has a championship playoff title m, a league cup final and 6 premier league manager of the month awards. Pulis has been 3rd division runner up, 2nd division playoff runner up, championship runner up, fa cup runner up, has 2 manager of the month and one manager of the season award. Remi has won the French cup and the champions trophy. pulis and allardyce have been in the management game upwards of 20 years, between them they've only won a single actual title. Doesn't exactly scream out that they are amazing managers. Edited February 12, 2016 by Duck

Allardyce or Pulis would have kept us in the premier league and given us stability and a platform from which to build on when Lerner sells. The way it is now, we are on our way to the championship and may not come back. Also I don’t think Allardyce is just a “survival specialist”. I think he can do more than that and with some backing may have been able to build something here. You still going on about the same crap. It didn't happen and therefore is pointless going on about it.. Sherwood didn't leave earlier, and we didn't have the opportunity at signing Allardyce instead of Garde. What you also forget is both WBA and Sunderland have forwards options better than our own yet still are not pulling up trees. You also mention that Allardyce and Pulis would've kept us up but you have no factual evidence to prove that they could or would. It's not impossible yet that both will escape relegation with their current clubs. I like both of them for different reasons but If either were great managers they would not be scratching around at Sunderland or WBA - Fact! Another fact is that neither Sunderland or WBA are at the moment stable. Edited February 12, 2016 by avfc1982am
jasoncb
An injury to Defoe and I think that's curtains for them. WBA on the other hand rarely ship many goals and they have strikers who can score from the scraps. I guess if I had the choice I would of gone for Pullis until Lerner sold the club to bring some stability but at a cost of watching dross week in week out. Remi would of been a great choice with a new owner coming in and giving him the cash to buy his own players. At this moment in time Remi is the only bright spark this club has and should do everything to keep him and supply with him with a decent amount of cash. briny_ear
They're experts at achieving the minimum - i.e. not getting relegated. Let's hope Garde is similarly expert at that, as a few posters on here are now fantasising.
PompeyVillan
He looked and sounded upbeat today. How he manages it I don't know, but it wasn't put on, he meant it. He seems like someone I would like to work with. Win or lose tomorrow he's still the right man for the job in my opinion.

Another fact is that neither Sunderland or WBA are at the moment stable. I am giving my opinion and responding to criticism of it. We did have the opportunity to sign Allardyce instead of Garde. I‘m not forgetting about the Sunderland and West Brom strikers. I’ve said already Defoe wasn't scoring before Allardyce arrived. Berahinho isn’t fit and isn’t being used. Agbonlahor when fit is as good as any options they both have excluding Berahinho. I've also referenced Bournemouth as a side who were performing well without a recognized striker. The history of Allardyce and Pulis keeping teams in the premier league is strong factual evidence. What factual evidence do you have that Remi Garde can do the same? Sunderland and West Brom are struggling because their squads are poor and the competition this season is strong.

He seems to have had some success during his career but has also bounced around from job to job, 16 times to be precise. When you're trying to build something is he really the man you want? Bielsa is exactly the same and the only reason most know of him was due to a couple of seasons with Bilbao where they competed well in the Europa League. Again though, another manager you wouldn't want to build something on the back of. They both come across as extremely intelligent and thorough, outside the box thinkers. There might be slightly more risk involved but I wouldn’t back against either of them. The chances of them lifting us up the table and creating something worthwhile would have been high. Michael118
There is evidence they can manage. There is also evidence that people with those qualities attract success. I can see them doing it which is intuition and that's supported by the success they have had. Edited February 13, 2016 by Michael118
Villarocker
The Muppets, who make the big decisions at our beloved club, need to get something right and stick with Remi Garde and give him as much realistic backing as possible. Financially and in the media they need to support Garde because there are clear signs of improvement on the pitch and we desperately need stability otherwise we could be out of the top flight for a long time.
Guest av1
After getting so many appointments wrong, it would be horribly ironic but not surprising if we finely got one right only to see him leave through a lack of backing. Typical Lerner, one step forward three steps back.

It's all hypothetical but i reckon we would have gone down last season had we appointed Allardyce. He turned into a train crash but Sherwood's approach was exactly what we needed at that moment. In my opinion Garde is exactly what we need now and I think he does look like the potential man to get us on the right track and we wouldn't be in this position now if we had him at the start of the season. I know little about Guidolin and I think Bielsa would have been a disaster with how the club is at the moment.
