Not really, they are all culpable for this mess, they will inherit this mess and will not have the time to turn it around. They really do face a generational time out of power. The mess is so monumental a new leader will not make any difference. If it was anyone other than Johnson, they'd be much lower.

Right now, any "next leader" will have to be a prize idiot. Yep, it's primed for Truss, so that'll cheer you up :D

Wonder if, like Thatcher, she needs a husband with a great name? 🤔😂

Nothing unexpected or unusual in that Twitter thread - and I say that to emphasise, not trivialise. The poor **** on the frontline in the ICUs went through some real trauma, even by the usual standards of the job.

There are no depths Fabricant won't sink to in order to get himself on telly and try to get a bit of credit from No 10 - now's his time to shine, what other leader will have use for the worm.

We need a written constitution ASAP with a detailed list of norms that need to be respected.

Not just this 'expected' bullshit that isn't even followed anymore because it doesn't suit those in power.

She's already married, she already cheated on him so there is a chance ;)

His surname is O'Leary, so clearly she showed some taste in not adopting that name :D

Then again, it seems like pretty much every female Tory MP has had a go on Kwarteng.

Don't they need something like 50? Don't think he's going anywhere.

The risk is high, you publicly condemn him and he survives your career is over.

On the contrary, back hin and he survives and your promotion is secured.

It’s very, very Trumpesque.

Depends what your ambitions are. MPs are still just MPs, not all cabinet members in waiting.

Publicly back him in a marginal constituency and you'll probably find your parliamentary career over in 2024.

Condemn him and you might keep your seat.

Or, keep your head down and do/say nothing which I think is going to be the popular option.

You are more likely to lose your seat with that approach in a marginal because the Tory vote will not be as big in the next election

To save your seat, you would be better off being outspoken against the current leadership.

Tory MPs are not the sharpest tools in the box though

Equally, not everybody is that fussed about staying an MP. If you're in a marginal, you'll likely lose sooner or later anyway, and there's plenty of jobs that pay well for those with parliamentary connections, and they usually pay better and have less scrutiny and more sociable hours too.

Front page of the Daily Mail twisting it round to make out anyone who wants him out is part of the howling left. They are lower than shark shit.

It's a good thing the Conservatives realised there was a war on in 1940 and made sure Chamberlain stayed on as Prime Minister

Are they stupid enough to believe that "there's  war on" is justification to keep Johnson around. A war that we're not in, and that we're arguably paralysed from responding to over the next couple of weeks as the government hides from criticism. Are they really stupid enough to believe that, or do they just hope their readers are.

Many of their readers are.
