I think most makers will be the same. Oil and Gas lobby think they've made a win here but market forces will dictate this now. All this bollocks about EV's needing more time to be priced proximate. NEXT YEAR Volkswagen are due to release a Polo sized EV for the same price as the current Polo, £20,000 ish. By 2030 battery technology will be so much cheaper you'll be paying a premium for a more expensive to run ICE vehicle anyway. Octopus Energy have NOW released a heat pump for a typical 3 bedroom house that is FREE to install with the Government grant where no changes are required and will be £3k where changes to the house are needed, so what £500 or so more than a gas boiler? And their innovative electricity tariffs mean they'll be much much cheaper to run than a gas boiler. Honestly this is such bollocks, in a couple of years from now they'll be even cheaper and even more efficient/cheaper to run. 12 years from now they'll be unrecognisable from today. Let's speak again in 2030 and see how many people are looking to buy an ICE car and looking to install a new gas boiler. How much is Gas going to cost to buy in 2035 I wonder? France, Germany, Spain, Italy, etc was 2035. The decision to can the Fiesta and Mondeo wasn't based on UK green policy. Ford made the decision to go full EV by 2030 anyway, including in all the countries that are 2035, which is where the production lines are anyway. Ford's policy will not change on that i'm sure. Personally, I think there is currently a deliberate ignorance in government about how technically diffficult it will be to insulate a vast swathe of the UK’s housing stock. Getting house insulation to the standard of ‘ok’ isn’t going to happen in the next 10 or 15 years. Not even close. Doubtless this will be shock breaking news in 2029.
