42% support sending asylum seekers to Rwanda. WTF.

Amazed it's not reversed (and probably higher). Immigration, especially of those noticeably 'different' in multitudes of ways, is still a dirty word.

I thought the country was starting to wise up to the disgrace that is the Conservative party, then nearly half think it’s ok to send refugees to East Africa as some sort of deterrent. Mental.

If you asked the country if they would support ceremoniously drowning anyone that had the cheek to think about coming here, you'd probably discover it was vote winner in lots of demographics that vote blue. And a fair old whack of it likes voting blue.

The country tolerates 'deserving' immigrants, just. The ones that we specifically invite from the goodness of our hearts who spoke be grateful to be allowed into god's country, or the ones that fill very tight niches (celebs, high end science/biz types, the crème de la crème). Everyone else is either stealing, stealing jobs, stealing women or stealing money from the state and Changing Things. We couldn't even accept Polish people, more brown 'Moslem' types? Pfft.

Sad but true. I expect quite a few would probably be in favour of just drowning them at sea.

In those anti immigrant nets Priti Patel was considering?

Once it was decided that it was the British Government's moral duty to prevent asylum-seekers from coming to harm, while making their perilous escape from the horrors of France, it was logical that the Government should send boats to pick them up and escort them to the English coast.

This is why boats are being sent to escort them ashore.

With Scotland's population predicted to fall dramatically, the new arrivals would be of the greatest benefit there.

Listening to a fantastic podcast called the Trojan Horse Affair. All about the alleged plan for Islamic extremists to take over Birmingham schools.

I really didn't know much about it but it's fascinating. Absolutely no surprise to learn Michael Gove and the Tories jumped at the chance to push islamophobic messages and policies.

*I should add, that as a teacher, I'm aware of the impact it had. I have to do PREVENT training each year and as a school we have to promote British values. Never really realised some of the shit behind it though.

Ohhh, so we now have our own version of the 'great replacement theory'.

I’m surprised that you’re surprised. If the last few years have taught us anything it’s that there’s a very significant proportion of the British public that are at best xenophobic and at worst racist.

Don’t call them that though because they haven’t the intelligence or self awareness to realise that’s what they are.

It’s great that the news today isn’t dominated by Boris Johnson’s **** ups. Instead it’s talking about that Northern Irish protocol and the damage caused by someone who negotiated and signed it.

Is it cynical of me to think that the Tories probably wanted this Rwanda thing to be proven to be unlawful?

Then they can show how hard they were trying to be to satisfy the gammons but claim it was stopped by those pesky judges and then not actually have to do it
