A lawyer for the agency made the claim as a legal challenge to stop the process got under way. The government aims to discourage people crossing the English Channel to seek asylum by making it clear many cases will now be dealt with by Rwanda. About 100 people have been told they may be on the first flight, on Tuesday. Just before the start of the hearing, it emerged at least three people have been told they will not now be put on that flight. Home Office lawyers told the court the plan must not be stopped by legal challenges because it was in the public interest and also urged a judge to reject challenges on behalf of individual asylum seekers. Personally I think everything would be better if every adult knew, and was interested in political principles, knew who their MP was, their history and positions, and had deep, well-reasoned ideas about all of it. But not being bothered doesn't make them thick. A theoretical physicist who isn't interested in by-election polling numbers isn't thick. Nor is an electrican who knows his way around a wiring system while I still don't completely understand why electricity doesn't leak out the sockets* and isn't bothered, but thinks he might pay a bit less tax by voting Tory. The policies which allowed a generation to live in a socialist bubble, should they choose, have been replaced by critical race theory and the culture wars, and the dominance of the interests of Capital has increased. Many people of the boomer generation, were born in an NHS hospital, lived in a council house, had a free university education, plus student grants, and went on to work their whole life in government instutions or state-owned enterprises, and now enjoy pensions underwritten by the state. In short, they have lived in a socialist bubble all their lives. They didn't have their surplus value confiscated by the capitalist, which in effect meant that they did not belong to the proletariat, by Marx's own definition.
