Is it possible to go from sacked twice to leader of the party? Absolute madness if so.

We don't have any real rules about what we can and can't do. If she can gather enough support from MPs, she can be anything, regardless of whether she's been sacked by prior holders of No.10s keys.

Was he sacked from government jobs twice though like Suella has?

Nah, he only ever held the foreign sec role, and he resigned. His ministerial career was uncharacteristically unblemished from the sackings he deserved.

I can’t see the shadowy figures in the background of the Tory party putting her forward as a leadership candidate after being sacked twice. They know it’ll go to shit and they’ll be laughed at for failing once again to promote someone suitable.

Exactly, this is why I can’t see Suella mounting any serious bid to lead the party.

Cameron being back in is dodgier even than it appears, given he's an explicit track record of trying to influence and lobby government in favour of his employers and investments. Not someone that should be given a foot back in the door, even if he's given the most 'removed' of the high seats of state in Foreign Secretary. And a fast tracked Lords seat, of course. Sigh.

Cameron confirmed as Foreign Secretary. Always a bad sign when a show has to bring back characters that they killed off in a earlier series.

I really hope it's a Dallas-style season long nightmare and we're all going to wake up to the reality that we all voted for chaos with Ed Milliband.

It is, however, a sign of complete desperation.

There has been, for some good time, a talent deficit at the heart of the Tory Party. Not only that but Sunak doesn't know who he can trust. That he has had to turn to a former PM who isn't elected to be Foreign Secretary says a lot, it will also say a lot to Tory MPs of which there are many, that would have supported Sunak but now might think why bother if a position can go to the likes of Cameron.
