It used to be that you only discussed/argued politics with a handful of people down the pub. If that. But now, everybody's a keyboard warrior, and they adopt a stance, much like supporting a football team. They argue it very publicly, ad nauseam. But once they've nailed their colours to the mast (be it leaver or remainer, Boris or Corbyn), they can't face being seen to back down. Having been SO adamant that 'their side' was right, they can't eat humble pie and admit - even to themselves - that they were probably wrong. So they double down. It's actually quite a worrying state of affairs for what passes for democracy. Agree with all that. And then add in very clever, sophisticated algorithms on these social media platforms ensure that people are bombarded with videos and messages reinforcing that their view is the right one and the one most people agree with.

It’s not true. What is true is that their supporters are very keen, but their level of support is low. Trump has around 1/3rd of republicans support him. Republicans are 1/3rd of the population, so 1 in 9 support him. Bunter is massively unpopular now, too amongst both MPs and the public.

Yeah, I didn’t mean in terms of the overall population but for example, why on earth do 1/3 of republicans still support Trump given how he has behaved over the last decade? Impeached twice, international embarrassment, scandal after scandal and now a stack of legal charges landing. Boris still has a number of MP’s backing him to re-run for leader after several of the same issues Trump has… why???

Davkaus
They seem like fairly small victories, when the precedent should be that Prime Ministers forced out in disgrace should be in no position to recommend honours to anyone.

KentVillan
And the betting markets actually have the Lib Dems favourite to win the seat. I imagine Labour and Lib Dems will tussle for a while over who leads the anti-Tory charge and then the vote will coalesce around one of them. Tactical voting probably enough to down the Tories, which would be massive

FTFY. it has been said that Mickey has many wigs, and tries to fool us by using the short one, then a slightly longer one, and finally the longest of the lot, before he pretends to have a haircut and goes back to the shortie. But this was no subtle change. This was as startling and as sudden as it would have been if he had grown a second head. There were three principle theories, and argument will persist until Hans Blix is sent in. First, it is his winter wig and he picked it up by accident when he dressed yesterday morning. But this is not likely, since even in cold weather the wig is never quite this length. Possibly the regular wig had met with a terrible accident. It could have melted and fused in the unseasonably warm weather we had in April. Or a bird of prey might have seized it for nesting: you could raise a family of kestrels in there. Or - and this is my belief - the wig is actually growing. Just as Pinocchio was carved out of wood and became a living boy, the wig has embedded itself in the Fabricant skull and - thanks to some terrible genetic mutation - it has started to draw nourishment from his scalp.
