“I remember as a child in south Wales swimming in sewage,” he told ITV’s Peston. “Jackson’s Bay in Barry used to be a sewage outlet where we all paddled and swam.”

Damian Green taking a break from porn to get misty eyed about a childhood spent amongst the faeces of South Wales.

Have you ever seen Damian Green and @chrisp65 swimming in Jackson's Bay at the same time?

:detect:

I mean, he is right. Yes, back in the day in the 70’s it was defo the case that I would swim over Jackson’s and there would be floaters to avoid.

But that would be minimal as it was ‘just’ the pipe direct from the yacht club bogs.

Over the Old Harbour that was a different story, that was your full on town shit pipe, and not going half way out to sea either, discharging on to the beach.

Even a kid in the 70’s could see you’d have to be **** mental to swim there.

(The porn would be found under bushes or stashed in steam trains over the Rabbits Field, and I have to say, it was continental strength, none of your Razzle tat)

Not much of an aspiration from him though is it, we swam in shit and it didn’t do us any harm so its not a big deal.

So Sunak faces two choices and neither is great for him.

Keep her and watch his personal and party's ratings plummet much the same as the party gate effect, except quicker

Or dump her and watch the Tory Party Civil War go into hyperdrive, he's barely keeping a lid on that as it is.

Either way, he's kinda still fubarred

i for one wish the media would leave the excellent sue ellen alone

How would having a one-to-one driver awareness course avoid points?

It avoids having to mix the public but if you’re offered it then you’ve already avoided the points.

To be pedantic, if you accept the offer then you avoid the points. You can decline the offer and take the fine / points.

As you say, it's a badly punctuated sentence as it indicates that the course is the issue, whereas it's the fact that she was too ashamed to do it in public that is the problem.

Yep, she asked civil servants to help her hide the fact she was caught speeding.

Actually that is secondary. It’s the fact she tried to use her position to circumvent the rules that everyone else has to abide by that is the real issue.

She doesn’t like mixing with us common folk to such an extent she attempted to get civil servants to bend the rules, that failed and she then tried a second time with people more pliable. That failed because the people running the tests also refused.

Oh and has anyone mentioned that she tried to claim the fine on expenses because she was on government business as revealed by William Wragg MP last month

It's interesting that it's front page on the Mail on Sunday who would normally be desperately trying to deflect the story. I wonder if this has been leaked by someone senior in the Tories who has decided she has rocked the boat too much recently and they want an excuse to get rid.

They love it surely. This sets the acceptable line where you can criticise the Tories, being cheeky about a £100 speeding ticket—all the rest of the endless shitery is therefore OK.

Well her speech at the Nat-C conference last week won't have been welcomed in all quarters, so its highly probable

If that is the case, she's likely to be gone soon enough

I see the JRM “gerrymandering” debate is rumbling on with Dawn Btler suggesting the Tories broke the ministerial code AND that the law represents the criminal offence of Misconduct in a Public Office. She may well be right but there’s absolutely no chance of that getting investigated.

The whole gerrymandering thing is beginning to piss me off now. The voter ID thing is not bloody gerrymandering, gerrymandering is a very specific thing about the manipulation of election boundaries to gain extra seats etc. The Voter ID thing is Vote Suppression which is an entirely different thing, JRM deliberately used the G word because the normals won’t understand it, it'll wash over them. Had he used the very descriptive and correct term everyone would understand. Trouble is, the media and all those politicians commenting on it keep using the G word, Grrrrrrrrrrrr
