Rolta
Half the people who vote Tory are seem to be like him. They're back the wrong party because they believe the scare stories about the left and probably think Labour advocate Stalinesque communism or whatever bollocks without realising they are 100% social democrats themselves, just like labour. In fairness Corbin was borderline unelectable. The current incumbents though, they've got my vote 150% 1

If that’s true then it suggests that half the Tory voters are pretty normal kinds of people. Which kind of supports the polls, because he said he’s ashamed of his party…which kind of implies he couldn’t vote for them next time. Which is nice. Also he’s in his 60s and has been a member for 56 years, so will remember a time when they weren’t as mind bendingly vile as they are now, and that time was probably when his outlook on life and politics was formed. What’s happened since then is Thatcher moved the tories further right, Major cut out some of her evil, Blair and Brown moved politics back towards the centre and then Cameron, May, Johnson and Truss moved the Tories further right, while Corbyn (to his credit, and I don’t say that often) moved thinking in the wider country leftwards, and Starmer has established a kind of Labour competency again. Which is a long winded way of saying the Tories are now way to the right of the general population’s thinking, while looking and demonstrating incompetence and division at the same time as Labour is looking focused and competent and more aligned with the general population’s outlook. So that Tory member might never join Labour because of long established loyalty, but he’s absolutely in the wrong party for today’s world. Its so pleasing to see the baby eaters turning further and further inwards and eating themselves, while Labour gets itself into a decent place and gives hope for better than the clusterpork which has been the last 12 years or so.
bickster Posted October 7, 2022 Moderator Share Posted October 7, 2022 You know that one metric the Tories always, always win on in any poll and for a lot of people is the most important metric. Duh, it's all about the economy stupid...

After what happened to his good friend Mr Pincher you’d think he’d have learned it isn’t always the case. I’d love to see him get his comeuppance for years of being a clearing in the woods. It's just such a sea change, no coordination or tactical voting discussions involved, just an inherent sense by the UK public that the government must go. Then piped up at conference the other day (sort of) slagging Truss off and saying Badenoch would do the trade job properly.

markavfc40
Given that there are a number of current Tory MP's facing serious allegations, including sexual assault (one is on bail following allegations of rape), but haven't had the whip removed, it makes you wonder what Burns has done to be sacked as a minister and have the whip removed.
