However, the realist in me suspects that's not the case here. Tunbridge Wells is the least deprived local authority area in the whole of Kent. Lichfield Dean Posted August 6, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted August 6, 2022 Do we know exactly what he was referring to? Because although I obviously don't agree with diverting funds from poor to rich areas, I also think it's entirely reasonable for wealthy areas to have decent roads and working streetlights and maintained parkland - is he he saying that the deprived areas have previously been better maintained? For instance, I think that maintenance of Sutton Park is just as important as maintenance of Perry Park even though the people of Sutton are generally (but not exclusively) better off than the residents of Perry Barr. Of course, I highly doubt he'll be talking about anything reasonable because it's Sunak but you never know....

To be as generous as possible I think he was trying to make an argument that Labour have rigged investment criteria to favour their urban heartlands whilst regional towns who typically vote conservative are missing out on government help. I guess it was meant to be a variation on the usual complaint that ‘London gets all the investment’, playing to the local audience at hand. However he managed to make his argument in the most ham-fisted way possible

Tony Blair’s final day as Prime Minister was in June 2007. A few days ago he claimed Freeport’s were his idea, which is truly impressive because when the first one opened, he was 3. They are liars. Just liars. It was liars bullshit to appease his target audience of greedy narcissistic baby eaters concerned about the heating costs for their jacuzzis and the price of garden centre coffees. Both candidates are saying anything to anyone for one more day of spotlight as tory politics races to the u bend. Universities are for education in its widest sense, including subjects like history, philosophy, literature, etc., not just industrial and financial management training.

Sunak is an empty-headed cipher who has no thoughts of his own and just parrots speeches written for him, which contain familiar Tory phrases from history, in order to masquerade as something he's not. Anyone who uses the expression "parity of esteem" in reference to eduation, is quoting one of the biggest lies ever told by the Tories in modern history, when Rab Butler launched his so-called tripartite educational system in 1944. As was quickly discovered, the scheme created the very opposite of what was purported, with the majority of children going to Secondary Modern schools, being taught almost nothing, as they were prepared to fufil their role in the labouring classes. For Sunak not to know that, reveals him as totally unsuitable for political office, let alone Prime Minister. He is just another Tory bullshitter, who lacks any quality worth mentioning.
