She wants one thing, and one thing only - to get her name on that list in the history books, with Walpole, Pitt, Disraeli, Churchill, Thatcher, et al. They'll never be able to take that away from her, no matter how crap she is inevitably going to be.

She’ll be part of the debate “worst PM ever” for sure.

And she really has become the new ERG puppet, far more so than Johnson ever was

She is going to crash and burn faster than anyone could imagine. I think the knives will be out by Christmas.

Johnson has used up all peoples tolerances for “maybe there’s some method in the madness”.

Levelling down anyone?

Quote

Liz Truss has said she wants to save taxpayers' money by ending national pay deals for civil servants' pay.

The Tory leadership candidate wants to link civil servants' salaries to living standards where they work, meaning similar jobs could have different salaries depending on location.

Ms Truss says the scheme could be rolled out to other public sector areas, saving £8.8bn a year.

Is she trying to organise a General Stike by default?

Here, have a paycut because you live in Stoke

(actually might not be such a bad idea for specifically Stoke)

It's alright, she's cemented her position as the Johnson continuity candidate by u-turning just at the moment she's taken the most damage from it.

Because they expect her to win.

This is literally the only logical reason. They know backing Sunam will mean that they are unlikely to get cabinet position.

However, with nearly half the MPs backing him, it would seem quite likely there will be a fair number of rebellions…

Perhaps. As a party though they tend to row in behind a new leader pretty meekly. They take a position of the members having spoken, and their life is always going to be easier if they don't piss the members off.

I expect whoever loses won't rock the boat too much. In HoC votes anyway, obviously the sniping in the press will be off the scale.

She’s going to be a **** nightmare isn’t she.

Where exactly has “being strong with the EU” got us so far?

It's a typical Brexit-y argument. The reason why Brexit isn't working is because we need more Brexit. Nothing to do with it being a stupid idea to begin with.

Bloody EU still telling us what to do with border checks we made them make. It’s a disgrace.

So she’s gonna get tough with the EU but folds like a pack of cards when her stupid ideas are criticised

Liz Truss has scrapped a plan to link public sector pay to local living costs.

The Conservative leadership candidate had said she wanted to introduce regional pay boards, in a bid to save a potential £8.8bn.

However, there was a fierce backlash to the policy from several senior Tories, who argued it would mean lower pay for millions of workers outside London.

The Truss team have now said the proposal will not be taken forward.
