No, they didn't. Johnson resigned before a second VONC in him was called. It's fairly obvious he would have lost a second VONC but it was never called

the "Vote of Confidence" is utterly bizarre to be honest. Unnecessary and a complete waste of time. It actually allowed the opposition to air their views formally and has seemingly forced another MP losing the whip.

The Tories seem to be intent on self-flagellation at the moment don't they?

There's no forced in that, absolutely nothing was forced on anyone. Johnson didn't have to remove the whip from Elwood, he wanted to in an act of revenge for Elwood's comments about Johnson recently

Ah that makes sense - vengeance by Johnson makes a lot of sense.

It would be nice to have a government that actually runs the country instead of playing oneupmanship with its own party.

The added bonus for Johnson is that as pointed out above Ellwood is not supporting the obvious Johnson preferred candidate of Truss, so he's also taken away one of Mordor's votes

Well not officially but they had no confidence in him staying as head of the government. He was struggling to fill ministerial roles by the end.  However they don't want to call an election as it is all about self-preservation.

Them not wanting Johnson as their leader has absolutely no bearing on them calling a General Election nor should it, we have a parliamentary system and that is a feature of that system

The Tories got the most seats in the General Election, that gives them a mandate for up to 5 years. Not one person in this country voted for a Prime Minister

Her parents were not in the UK, she was sent here to stay with a friend as the political situation in Nigeria had deteriorated. She was born in the UK so was a UK citizen.

So in this case, he was in Moldova, they ordered him back, and he didn't. It's not clear why he was there, may have just been a holiday.

This is having actual consequences on government business and our reputation abroad though. Alok Sharma isn't turning up to Berlin for the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, because he's been told he has to stay and vote in the tory infighting contest. Despite him still being the active president from COP26, we have no ministerial representation there.

I’ve worked in Moldova before. Nice people, but you wouldn’t go there on holiday.
