As DAG says above, even if/when the Sue Gray report comes out, now it'll be 'we need to wait for the police investigation'. They are investigating now because of info they have now received off the back of Sue Grays investigation. It seems Grays investigation may well be damning. StefanAVFC Posted January 25, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted January 25, 2022 It's a thoroughly bizarre series of events. The Met refused to investigate due to a lack of evidence. An employee of Boris Johnson conducts as internal investigation. During this investigation she talks to the Met. Based on the evidence given by the Met, the Met now decide there's enough evidence to investigate.

Genie
After the Met have investigated the politicians, will the politicians start an investigation into the Met for not properly investigating the politicians initially? Will Dick be pulled (kw) in front of MP’s to answer questions about not investigating their conduct? What a completely predictable and avoidable mess. A pattern that has supported almost every single Tory govt since the 2ndWW. As a population we vote for a Lib/Lab coalition almost every single election, but FPTP gives us Tory wins and minority rule. We hardly ever have a govt that is representative of us as a people. So glad you raised this point, as it is so easy to despair about your neighbour, but it is really the system that is the problem.

Turns out that a system that in part runs on honour rules and respect doesn't work when people who ignore them get enough strength to ignore them unopposed.

What's the betting that the thing that's triggered this is individual Police officers giving accounts and evidence to Sue Gray. That would mean that the Met have to investigate, otherwise it would come out that the Police had evidence and refused to do anything, when she reported.

Keeps the Tory rank and file desperate to get rid of him, but without the smoking gun that they are waiting for. I don't think that any Government is going to see the thing causing them to haemorrage public support becoming more serious and going on for longer as a positive.

The timing is ridiculously suspicious. They've had the evidence all along, and now the report is due to be published, and 'damning' suddenly there's a police investigation that blocks the report?
