dAVe80
Great stuff. Really pleased to see us playing aggressive, attacking cricket. Credit to Cook for setting some unorthodox fields, and not being afraid to try something different. We may make a decent captain out of you yet!
PaulC
George Dobell is quite scathing of the Cardiff wicket. Thinks there should never be a test match played in Cardiff again.

PaulC
More down to the players than the wicket they had to play on though. 15,000 capacity for an ashes test when Old Trafford holds 26000. Its not right really. I like Cardiff but its not a test match ground.
Zatman
Its a test match ground but not an Ashes Test Match ground
chrisp65
So the wicket wasn't that big a deal, the players dealt with it fine, it was the 16,300 capacity?
Rodders
it is a bit of a smaller ground I suppose, but bugger it, we haven't lost here to the Aussies yet so if it ain't broke..
dAVe80
England unchanged. Aussies bring in Marsh and Nevill, for Watson and Haddin. Aussies win the toss, and have a bat. Hmmm... Decent toss to lose? Sounds like it's overcast in that London. Jimmy to get the ball swinging, and cause problems for the Aussie bats? Fingers crossed!
lapal_fan
Root with a dropped catch on 3rd ball. I didn't see it, but BBC said it was a chance.

PaulC
Doesn't look like much happening. Warner gave his wicket away. It will get easier and easier to bat today. Smith is too good not to take advantage of these conditions.
dAVe80
Runfest on the cards by the sound of it. Does the draw look like a good bet? I'd probably take 4 draws / rain offs, for the rest of the series! Edited July 16, 2015 by dAVe80
PaulC
Yes but I fancy the Aussies to make it 1-1. They do well at Lords. The Aussies get 550, Starc and Johnson come racing in! Bell is a very poor slip fielder. Always was. Edited July 16, 2015 by PaulC
islingtonclaret
It's our right to struggle at the home of cricket. They always do us when they're here. The ultra-aggressive batting plus a slow wicket and fast outfield has definitely made me wish we'd won the toss...
PaulC
Yes these type of wickets are no good for test cricket.

dAVe80
Scoreboard pressure comes into play if, as it seems likely, the Aussies post a big score. Can't recall who it was, but I remember someone moaning in the press about Cardiff, and them not getting another Ashes, due to the wicket. Will the same argument be used to against Lords? chrisp65
On the plus side, this just could be heading for a draw? Bit early to call that I know.
