Stevo985 Posted August 10, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) It's a bit early to be saying he can be as good as Ashley Cole when most of us have only seen him play once. Cole was the best left back in the world in his prime. Think people are commenting on his potential not that he is actually as good as cole I didn't say otherwise. Saying he is potentially as good as Ashley Cole after one game is premature, even though I agree that he looks good. Difference between saying a player reminds you of another and saying they can be as good as said player. You're pulling a Woodytom I can see the comparison, style wise. I have serious doubts he has that kind of talent, but you never know.
Tomaszk
Cole was the best defensive full back in the world by quite a distance in his prime. On the ball he was never fantasic though, he got into great areas, but always lacked technical quality of other full backs. Steve Finnan and Gary Neville for example were much better crossers, despite not being as good as Cole overall. I like that on the ball, Amavi looks the absolute dogs. Two footed as well! Zatman
when Cole started he was a much better attacker than defender, up until about 03/2004 was a lot of people questioning his defensive capabilities and then he worked from then to be best in his position
VillaChris
He canbe as good as Cresswell was for West Ham last season or indeed Bertrand for Southampton. That will do for now.

Mourinho done a Mourinho though and coached it out of him.

Popular Post VillaChris
J'adore...... Jordan Amavi sat down with us this week to look ahead to our first home game of the season against Man Utd, reflect on the win at Bournemouth and discuss many more topical claret and blue matters. On playing at Villa Park… I have already been on a tour of Villa Park. What a stadium. It's really magnificent. I can't wait to play there. I can tell it's one of the best stadiums in the country. It's got real majesty and the pitch is very good too, the grass looks great. I have heard the supporters are really enthusiastic and passionate about their club here in the home stadium. I can't wait to see that first hand. If it's anything like the support we received at Bournemouth, it will be fantastic. When I walked around when I signed, it was strange seeing the ground empty. I can't wait to see it full now. There's a display of trophies - the European Cup, the League Championship and the FA Cup - in the tunnel area. I knew before I joined that it was a club with a big history and heritage - but when you see those trophies it really hits you what we have won and where we have come from. It's got such a great pedigree and I want to help push us forward now. I want to help us write new chapters. On Friday's game… It's Man Utd first up at Villa Park. I am so, so excited. That is a great start to the season for us at Villa Park. I watched the Premier League regularly on television in France so to think I will have the chance to be out there playing in my new home stadium this Friday, it's a wonderful feeling for me. It is a huge match. I am going to give it everything I have got. I can't wait. I wanted to come to the Premier League because I think it's the best in the world. But these games against the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City, these are the great matches and I am delighted to have the chance to be part of them. Man Utd is a very good team. They have recruited a lot of very good players. Some will say Man Utd are favourites - but we want to prove them wrong! We really would love to do that. On his debut at Bournemouth… Football here is different from France - it's much, much quicker! I am used to playing against rapid footballers in France but this was something new for me but I found it very good. It's much more physical too in this division. I tried to bring my absolute maximum to the game. We won so it was a great start for me, but more importantly, for the team. I had strong emotions on the final whistle. I felt really great. It was a clean sheet for the defence. That was a good start. We will progress too. On fan support… The welcome I have received from the Villa fans has been very touching. I have been delighted with it. It means a lot. It's great receiving compliments in life - but especially when you're a new player at a new club in a new country. It makes you feel even more at home. I really appreciate it. I have been reading the comments on Twitter and also I have seen some shirts with Amavi 23 on the back. It's wonderful to see. They have congratulated me on my performances so far - in pre-season and in the first game of the season. I would like to repay the compliment and say they have been brilliant to me and to the team as a whole. Thank-you all Villans! On his initiation song… I sung a French song. I was happy with my performance in the game - and I think I did quite well before the match in front of the players. I am really not a good singer but I did the best I possibly could to impress them. Idrissa Gueye was the best, definitely. His performance was great. He sang Gold Digger by Kanye West. He sang really well and he had the whole place clapping along http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~4928786,00.html
