No move on inflation for 2 months now.

Bring on the budget. Be interesting to see if Labour turn it to the rich. Or just bash the poor a little more.

They've been very clear that those with the broadest shoulders will bear the burden, so it's a bad time to be a low paid manual labourer.

'NHS to reform or die'.

Good time to invest in medical businesses, they're going to be handing out private contracts like sweets. CEOs across the world will be salivating.

A public / private hybrid system for healthcare like the models Germany or Australia uses gets very good outcomes with low overall costs.

It’s prudent to follow the evidence rather than be ideologically wedded to any one system.

My kids are at the dentist today having braces fitted, it’s a private dentist which has picked up the job from the NHS. It meant the wait was only about 6 weeks rather than 9 months. The braces will be off again before they’d have been seen at the NHS dental hospital.

You watch them scrap the 25% discount on council tax for people living alone in the budget.

Seems, they maybe all shit scared to touch the rich.

I expect double council tax for people owning more than one property on each additional property.

I agree, whilst the NHS is a unique model for a national health service and its ideals were in the best intention. The interesting thing is that as far as I know it has not been copied or adopted by any country in the world.

Maybe it is time to grasp that nettle and recognise that the NHS needs new ideas and not treat it as a religion.

I was admitted to my local Hospital last year for a week, the staff were fantastic, but I sensed that the whole "structure" of the NHS needed a complete overhaul. People occupying beds but couldn't be discharged as they had no support function at home. Others who were suffering from dementia for similar reasons etc.

I think most of us would happily see reform to the NHS to make it better but also to pay more tax to the creation of a National Social Care System as long as it appears to work well.

This or any government should be looking at health services in different countries and seeing what works and adopting those methods. Using the new buzz word ...."making those difficult decisions".

The slow thinkers don't seem to realise public services are deliberately run into the ground before privatisation.

It’s fascinating, and depressing, and infuriating, and then depressing again.

I think the way the water and trains are run will make even the government think twice about that quick cash grab.

Hunt's term in charge crippled the NHS a decade ago. The cash grab is already in the system, with more come into law just before the election.

My wife (32 years old)  has an issue, which is strongly linked to Ovarian cancer to which she's had 2 family members pass away. I'm no doctor but with potential cancers time is EVERYTHING.

She went to her GP, had a scan within 4 days on the NHS, the GP called the next day, said she's quite concerned about her results and referring her to a specialist which was really quick.

Unfortunately, there's at least a 2-4 month wait to see the specialist (no one will tell us how long).

We managed to see the exact same specialist within 12 hours, privately for £275. They recommended a biopsy (to check for cancer) and some tissue removal for comfort. On the NHS is another 2-4 months so 4-8 months in total - or for £3-5,000 it can be done privately next week.

I am absolutely no fan of labour - but the NHS is completely broken. It's a 10 year fix at least.

And the sad reality is poor people die waiting for an appointment.

All the best with your wife’s treatment

Major's private finance initiative expanded to become Blair's partnerships UK.

Couldn't tell you offhand who was steering Blair's thinking at the time?
If they're still involved they'll need to have learned from some massive and still growing mistakes?
