markavfc40
Ricahrds would be a good signing even at 65k a week. Under contract he is comfortably worth 4-5 mill so for free that means you can afford to pay him a little more. Lost his way a little at City but for me a good player yet to realise his potential. A Villa fan as well. Edited June 11, 2015 by markavfc40
useless
Strange that he should turn down £90K per week at Sunderland.
PaulC
possibly decent signing. Good cover A signing like him will not be regarded as cover, not with those wages. yes i agree. I think its a step-up from the signings we have made the last two seasons.
Texas_Mike
Well he certainly was a beast a few years ago and he still has plenty of good years ahead of him. Just wish he was left sided and not right.

If he can stay fit then great, but it's not likely is it?
maqroll
Strange that he should turn down £90K per week at Sunderland. Makes you wonder if he's privy to information that swayed him. Can only be a promising signal.

sonic_bouma
I think it's a very good signing. When he's on his game this guy is a very good player. Played enough last season to show he's getting past his injury problems and still only 26. Big step up in quality from bacuna and Lowton. Well done Tim coz it looks like we beat competition from Liverpool aswell.

KSV
Good signing imo. Italian coaching would have made him a better defender too hopefully
PieFacE Posted June 11, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted June 11, 2015 It's probably unlikely that Sunderland offered him 90k p/w to be fair.
avfcwills10
Thinking about this rationally, without even trying think positively: If we honestly have offered him SIXTY FIVE THOUSAND A WEEK!!! to a very injury prone player then surely a takeover is pretty much signed. The clubs policy over the years has been to reduce the wage budget and not give out these types of contacts, especially to players who are injury prone and haven't played a full season for 3 years. This too is very encouraging though in terms of keeping Benteke, if we offer Richards £65k we must be willing to offer Benteke close to £100k!?
Enda
Wages are high. But him on £65k for four years is about the same as paying a £6m fee and £35k a week. Which wouldn't be bad. Hopefully he stays fit.
dAVe80
Just to clarify, again, he was born in Brum, but raised in Leeds. An Arsenal fan as a kid, as far as I know.
