lapal_fan
To beat Newcastle, you have to play wide, be in their faces and disrupt their play. We'll play narrow, won't get near them and will lose 3-0. C'est la vie.
Tomaszk
We must not lose this. Couple of monstrous winnable games coming up and we need the confidence of not losing AGAIN going into them. I'll take a 0-0, I'll take a bloody 1-1 with no shots on target and a Williamson OG. Come on you Villa boys!
dont_do_it_doug.
I can see us winning this one. If only because at some point the law of averages state we will get thrown a bone.
Isa
We need to win this game, simple as that really. Four points from the next two for me. Though a victory against Newcastle is probably the more likely - I can't really see us breaking down Pulis' Albion.
Condimentalist
I'd like us to play the same formation that I and several others were proposing before the weekend, if we start 442 again my belief that Sherwood is tactically inept will be pretty well cemented. So: Guzan Hutton Okore Clark Cissokho Westwood Delph Bacuna Gil Sinclair Benteke That's also the team I wanted for the Stoke game, Okore and Sanchez aside. Let's hope Gabby's not 'on fire in training' again.
bose
I am as pessimistic for this match as I was confident and optimistic for the Stoke game.

OutByEaster? Posted February 23, 2015 Moderator Share Posted February 23, 2015 I'd take a point to bring us into Albion week with some sort of footing.

cosofsaunders
Guzan Hutton okore Clark cisshoko Westwood delph Nzogbia Gil Sinclair Benteke We will win but I say that every week. 0-2 benteke x2
dnmacf
If there was ever a cup final mentality required... We just need to get something... anything, from this game to build upon and to boost a bit of confidence. I think they have forgotten what gaining points is right now and panicked on Saturday when we were in point scoring positions. 3 would be excellent no matter how it came. 1 would even be a real real boost but a loss and that midweek Baggies fixture looks even more painful, let alone the cup tie beyond.
YGabbana
Hope TS has installed a cup mentality into them this week. Attack Attack even if we're winning 1-0 we cant sit back and let our heads drop. Comon boys time to step up and earn your wage.
AvfcTheObsession
Baker and N'Zogbia in some people's line-ups? Please no. ------------Guzan------------ Hutton Okore Clark Cissokho Westwood Sanchez Delph ----Gil Benteke Sinclair---- Though wouldn't be against seeing Bacuna and/or Cleverley in the line-up at the expense of the likes of Westwood or Sanchez. YGabbana
After the bashing sanchez got after stoke im suprised to see him in peoples line ups.
AvfcTheObsession
Still think Sanchez can do a job if he has the calming influence of Westwood next to him who is a much better passer.
pacbuddies
Having watched Man City score with ease against Newcastle's pathetic defence there is no excuse for not achieving at least a point at St Jame's Park. Newcastle are there for the taking, they are gash.
Stevo985 Posted February 24, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted February 24, 2015 After the bashing sanchez got after stoke im suprised to see him in peoples line ups. I agree he was poor, but I think that was more due to the system than Sanchez to be honest. Any of our midfielders would struggle in a 2 man midfielder at the moment
Grasshopper
There's 2 ways we could go here 3-4-2-1 ----------------------------Guzan ------------Okore-------- Clark----------- Baker Hutton/Bacuna-Westwood-Sanchez-Richardson -------------Gil-------------------------Sinclair -----------------------------Benteke 4-2-3-1 -----------------------------Guzan Hutton---------Okore---------------Clark-----------Cissokho -----------------Westwood--------Sanchez -------Bacuna----------------------------------Sinclair ----------------<<<<<<<<<<Gil>>>>>>>>>----------------- --------------------------------Benteke Either way we need Westwood next to Sanchez infront of a solid defence that should stay back The 4 or 3 offensive players need to stretch and move to get onto long and medium passes No straight hoofs balls wide & into channels Gill needs a free role Sinclair needs to be mobile and aware where Gill can put him through Benteke needs to hold up the ball turn and get into the box corners & free kicks Gill (&/orBacuna) No Delph to slow up the play or run in to cul de sac's No Gabby Weiman only as sub along side Benteke Cleverley only as sub for Westwood or Sanchez if their going gets tough If we are behind last 20/30 mins. No risk no fun -----------------------Guz -----------------Okore--Clark Hutton-------Westwood-----Richardson Bacuna---------------------------Grealish ---------------------Gill ---------Sinclair---------Benteke not ideal but the best we got Edited February 24, 2015 by Grasshopper
ender4
We need to learn how to take a corner. In the Stoke match, we had so many corners that were awful beyond belief. and we did the same thing again & again, the same positioning, the same awful kick into the box, the same no Villa player on the end of it.
