I was genuinely surprised when I saw this, only because I remember being at a pub quiz about 20 years ago and a fight broke out with people arguing over Glasgow and Budapest (didn’t affect my team of thickos, we’d answered Paris!).

Having looked into this today though, I think if Istanbul had been given as the answer, even I might have joined the fight! A funicular built in 1875 with 2 stops, isn’t a metro system it’s a tunnel! The clue must be that the Turkish called the line Tünel.
