Bit of a bogey side for usHe's getting the sackSwansea are a good team but they're not pulling up any trees away...drew at Sunderland, lost at Watford, lost 4-1 at Southampton.Still we know what a charity we are at Villa Park...Stoke's only two away wins in last six months have both been at VP. .....................no one in the bottom half has won more than 2 games.....just thought it was interesting/significant

PongRiddims
Is there anyone besides me on this board who thinks that Tim, if given enough time, would probably turn it around? I still don't think that time should extend past November, but even if it did, I suspect he would finally get his tactics straightened out. Anyone?Yes me, and i have posted several times to that effect but whats the point. People have their opinions and we're not going to change them. I'd like him to succeed, here or elsewhere, I don't particularly dislike the bloke. The problem I have is we have a massively inept manager at the minute coated in charm and character, making mistakes far and above any other manager in my life time and without the experience to rescue it. His character has saved him some far, not his management
Marka Ragnos Posted October 11, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted October 11, 2015 I don't see the point of giving him two games, surely if they're having doubts now, then beating Swansea shouldn't change that. All that will do is delay his departure. You really can't conceive why the board might be reluctant to flush their own hire? Honestly, it makes perfect sense ... tylerreznik
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/tim-sherwood-given-two-games-6610295 Has to win least one of next 2 gamesIf true, just wonderful news, and doesn't it just seem like poetic justice.First Sherwood 'leaks' his displeasure at not getting his own guy in, and boarderline blames the current players for our current plight. He thinks he's being clever, savvy media operator etc.A day later the club 'leaks' news that he's got two game to save his job, borderline blames Sherwood for the mess we're in, giving the Clown absolutely nowhere to hide.Priceless, and really good on Fox and co. Have to think this is a very clear signal that we are looking at / talking to managers.Somehow doubt all the new players Sherwood 'didn't want' to sign this summer are going to rally around him and go to war against Chelsea in the name Tim the Almighty.....

Popular Post tylerreznik
In Telegraph as well, mentions that Sherwood might recall N'Zogbia http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/11924364/Tim-Sherwood-fighting-to-save-Aston-Villa-job-as-crunch-matches-against-Chelsea-and-Swansea-loom.html Tim Sherwood is fighting to save his job and ready to get ruthless with Aston Villa's summer signings as he prepares for potentially pivotal matches against Chelsea and Swansea City.Less than five months after leading the club to the FA Cup final, Sherwood has lost six of the last seven Premier League games and is under mounting pressure to convince the club's hierarchy he can mastermind a revival in form.Sherwood met with chief executive Tom Fox on Tuesday at the club’s training ground to discuss recent results and the Villa board have argued the squad should be doing better after such a substantial overhaul of 12 new players arriving in the summer. But despite such a drastic reshaping of the squad, Villa appear on course for another relegation battle and the manager is understood to be growing increasingly concerned that some of those signings lack the qualities for English football.Villa only escaped the drop last season by three points and then sold key players Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph, spending just £7million net to strengthen the squad.Sherwood was keen to recruit proven Premier League players, including Esteban Cambiasso and Aaron Lennon, yet the club went for youngsters from overseas with sell-on potential in a strategy spearheaded by head of recruitment Paddy Reilly and newly appointed sporting director Hendrik Almstadt. But the 46-year-old is now prepared to take many of those new recruits out of the firing line in a desperate bid to save his job.Villa will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next weekend, followed by what already looks a crucial home game against Swansea, and Sherwood is set to drastically shake up his squad with the likes of Jack Grealish, Carles Gil and even Charles N’Zogbia poised for recalls. It has been a frustrating start to the seasonN'Zogbia, 29, infuriated Villa fans last week with a tweet about his earnings but will be in contention for a starting place when he returns to full fitness. He has not played since the 4-0 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup Final at Wembley.Adama Traore, the £7million summer signing from Barcelona, could also be involved after impressing in two behind-closed-doors friendlies this week.Sherwood also faces former club Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in the next four weeks and is determined to return to the attacking principles that enabled Villa to survive last season. He said: “I like to try to win enough games rather than going out there not to be beaten.“I’ve done that a few times and you end up getting beaten anyway so I’d rather go to win, but I need to find a team of players who can go to places like Stamford Bridge and not be scared, put up a fight and be brave on the pitch.“The games are ticking off and we need to start winning. Now I have to find the ingredients and put them on the pitch at the right time against the right opposition and try to get a spark.”Villa’s 1-0 home defeat to Stoke City last Saturday left them third bottom and already four points behind 17th placed West Bromwich Albion. You honestly couldn't make up some of this sh*t that comes out of his mouth. The players signed have more than enough quality to play in the league, Ayew is the only one that hasn't really settled yet. Our performances or to be more precise our poor results are down purely to the tactics / formations he has sent the team out with, and the ridiculous subs he has or hasn't made mid match, to either combat opponents changes or to see out matches. It's very very simple and clear for all to see, he is the root cause of our problems, he has manufactured losses / draw from almost certain victories with his ineptitude / lack of footballing intelligence. Our biggest problem has been defensive lapses, but the two centre backs he signed are both ENGLISH players with many years PL experience..... Sure Amavi has made a few poor mistakes, one ultimately leading to a goal being conceded, but i'd argue he'd brings so much more to the left back position I'd think that mistake has been evened out. With the exception of lacking a really top class proven goal scorer this is the best most balanced quad we've had in a many a year, for the first time in a long time we are blessed with some really talented attacking players. Right back and keeper are the only real weak points remaining (along with a goal scorer). There is no doubt in my mind a manager with half a brain and basic footballing intelligence will come in a do great things with this team, we are two or three players away from having a really solid team.Blaming the players is just such a piss weak excuse it just illustrates how clueless he is. Isn't it strange how foreign imports at other clubs have settled, even stranger that we had to compete with other PL clubs for most of the foreign players that we signed over the summer, so clearly other managers / scouts think they have the quality to make it in the PL, just Tim the Almighty that sees it differently....

He brings a lot of psychic baggage with him. He was JUST sacked. That's not usually a great recommendation for a new job, but this is football! Villarocker
Win one out of the next two is a strange thing really. We could win both but then lose the next six. If they are doubting him so much they should just move on and get someone else in. People were saying Allardyce because of his experience and ability to keep teams up. Moyes, for me, is better at that than big Sam, and you're more likely to see better football! Moyes put together one of the best full back pairings in British football for relatively nothing. His defences always looked a lot more solid than ours currently looks. He had hard-working midfields too, which is something we're crying out for - referring to his Everton days. Moyes is also proven at working on a shoestring budget. My only concern is that he's Scottish and Scottish managers have a bad record at Villa overall. But, someone has to change that. Let's face it, some of the best managers in British football history have been Scottish. For me, Moyes would pretty much be a safe bet. I reckon he would join us for multiple reasons - coming home, managing in the Premier League again etc. The only snag may be the costs involved. We all know our owner's plans regarding spending money on the club so Moyes might be beyond our budget. Especially, if reports are right he's going to make multiple changes to the starting elevens (again!) smacks of desperation to me.

Popular Post TrentVilla Posted October 11, 2015 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted October 11, 2015 Totally agree Kingman. He is either the right manager to take us forward or he isn't and that decision should be made on all aspects of the job he is doing and how he is conducting himself.I fail to see how the next two games change anything.
Jareth
Well hes probably going to go crazy attacking against chelski and swansea in a bid to win. Win both abd everything changes. tylerreznik
I get the feeling the two game deadline is simply Fox giving a Sherwod a nudge and asserting his authority over him after Sherwoods leak earlier in the week. Either walk or you're going to be fired, ie here's a chance to leave with a tiny piece of dignity. Also sends a very strong and public signal to possible replacement managers and the market that the villa manager role could be opening up very soon. Good on him, smart move from Fox.totally agree he could fluke a win against Swansea then lose the next four (very likely in fact), by then the damage could be terminal, even deadly if Sunderland pick up few results with the new manager bounce.nohing is going to change in two games, damage is done with his poorly conceived 'leaks', and last few games he has just looked utterly lost and is showing the signs of somebody that has either given up or is in way way over their head. Very different to his first few matches jumping around of the touch line, smiling and joking in press conferences etc, he's given it his best shot, just not up it plain and simple. Villarocker
I totally expect to see Sherwood on Goals on Sunday in around 4-6 weeks time banging on about how he wasn't given enough time, he was just finding his best team, the board were ungrateful after he kept us up, he didn't pick the players we signed, the fans are all deluded, fickle and live in the early 80's etc etc.
