Tayls
Just rather close to Syria, and there may be people there who are of the same beliefs as those who are fighting with IS. I know it is the same everywhere at the moment but I guess it is the 'closeness' that concerns me. Edited February 8, 2015 by Tayls
Xela
If there was any hint of danger then holiday companies wouldn't be sending people there. Don't worry about it (easy for me to say!) and enjoy yourself Turkey earns too much from tourism for it to be threatened. I've been to Egypt plenty of times over the last few years and despite the political instability there, have never felt in the slightest of danger. Just feels as though we will be just down the road from what's happening over the border. Bit scary!

maqroll
Just looking that up on a map suggests that you will be fine. I'm assuming the area is built up somewhat around seaside tourism...you'll be fine.
Derryvillan
Go on Tripadvisor find the Antayla forum and ask a few questions. In the circumstances there's probably a few threads on it already. If the regulars on there can't reassure you, probably time to try and change if you can. maqroll
You're closer to a sunbaked Greek style holiday than any nightmare war zone scenario you are thinking of
Tayls
You're closer to a sunbaked Greek style holiday than any nightmare war zone scenario you are thinking of But with the border so (relatively) close, it makes you wonder how people are actually crossing the border into Syria? Must be people helping them as soon as they arrive at the airports. Meaning they are going to be all around those southern states. And tourist parts are more likely to be a target... I wish I was going to Greece, tbh Edited February 22, 2015 by Tayls

I wish I was going to Greece, tbh You'd be in more danger in Miami, in just a general sense. Where you will be iin Turkey is nowhere near the border crossing to Syria. And Tayls- the wannabe ISIS fighters are trying to go to Syria, not Turkey! Do you think they will get off a plane in Ankara and decide to take a detour to some random tourist town hundreds of miles away to kill sunbathers? AvfcTheObsession
I personally wouldn't be very relaxed in Turkey because of all the bad experiences English football fans have had when they've been over there. I've also heard that the Turkish men don't really like the English men and get annoyed with them trying it on with what they see as 'their women'. Any recommendations? Did you see any shenanigans? Hell, no. Pleasant beach resort, good shops and restaurants, friendly locals. I've felt more threatened in Scarborough. Surely those bad experiences are only relevant if you are going there to watch a football game? Not likely to experience any such issues lying on the beach at a holiday resort. @OP: I've been to Turkey numerous times and loved it. I think you're over thinking the situation over there, you'll be fine!
