kevpants
Bournemouths style will suit us. Absolutely. If they come trying to play their gung ho style our defence will mop that up and we'll get a chance to play on the break for a change.
villan-scott Posted January 5, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted January 5, 2015 We should have enough to see these off, they're going well in the league, but as stated their style of play will play into our hands and open up space for Benteke. Have faith fellas! Feels strange being in the fourth round!
Rugeley Villa
if we play well then yes we will probably go through but all im saying is we have a bad habit of losing to lower league teams. its a potentially very tough draw but im happy enough with it. ReasonforRevolution
Happy with the draw. I am more confident against Bournemouth than I would've been with SHA. Leicester strolled the Championship last season and they fell at fortress Villa Park this season. However, if we are going to lose keep it below 8.
Rugeley Villa
blues v albion is a tasty draw or at least it should be but if millwall get through then thats the one id like to see. it will put a bit of fire back in the belly of football. Brumstopdogs
Bournemouth rested several of their players in the last round and I'm assuming they may do the same vs us. This should be a comfortable win for us (although I doubt it will be)
avfc1982am
Bournemouth would be a good draw. Maybe Lambert could have a chat with Eddie Howe after the game and get some tips about developing a passing game with end product. You clever lad! useless
They say on their forum that they've scored more goals in Birminham this year than we have. It'll be a good day to overtake them in that regard.

John
Bournemouth score goals for fun (in the division below us against the likes of Small Heath). We keep it tight at the back (against the likes of Liverpool who knocked them out of the other cup at their ground). They have also never beaten us even when they had Ted MacDougall to open the scoring with a superb diving header in front of the Holte End in 1972 in front of 48,110 fans who will never forget that game we had Andy Lochhead to win it with a sweet volley from a free-kick from big George Curtis. They will no doubt rest players with an eye on promotion and I wish them luck with that. We will I trust put out as strong a team as we are able. We have Benteke to play the Andy Lochhead part but where is their Ted MacDougall? We could have had tougher as well as easier games than this one. But this is a game we can win and I say bring it on! The worst part of the draw is that it does not put the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs or the Manchester clubs together yet. MikeMcKenna Posted January 5, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) Similar result will do me. Not sure we'll have 48k turn up for this one though! I went to this game - the atmosphere was incredible with all four sides of the ground chanting VILLA! VILLA! VILLA!! At the time I believe the 48,000 crowd was a record for a div 3 fixture. The header by Ted McDougall was a stunner and VP was equally stunned but we turned it round with Vowden and Lochead scoring. McDougall had a great scoring record at Bournemouth and left the season after for a brief spell at Man U. jackbauer24
To put it in to perspective, although not the whole story, we have a harder tie than some all Premier league ties if you look at difference in league position of all 92 clubs. We are 12th in England, Bournemouth are 21st, so 8 teams between us. However Saints potentially play Crystal Palace and there are 13 teams between them and 14 between potential Tottenham/Leicester tie. So you could argue (without me actually researching this) we actually got the hardest tie of any Premier League team! Yes, you can tell, I'm already trying to rationlise a defeat!
The Fun Factory
Hopefully a 3pm Saturday ko with cheap tickets again. I reckon they will take a ton down as they must fancy their chances. Another 1-0 to the Villa would be nice.
