Marley the Bognor Villan
Transfer news: Aston Villa put back Carles Gil press conference Last Updated: 13/01/15 11:38am 0 Valencia midfielder Carles Gil still set to join Villa Aston Villa remain confident Carles Gil will join the club despite a late hitch in their deal with Valencia. Representatives for the 22-year-old midfielder have reportedly increased their demands as the deal to bring him to the Premier League was close to being finalised. Gil flew into Birmingham on Monday to put pen to paper on a five-year contract, with Villa due to hold a press conference at 1pm at their Bodymoor Heath training ground. That has now been put back, but Gil is still expected to become Paul Lambert's first January addition as the Scot desperately looks to add some creativity to his squad. Villa have failed to score in their last four outings but, despite scoring only nine goals in the Premier League all season, sit three points above the relegation zone in 13th. Gil came through the ranks at Valencia and spent two years on loan at Elche before returning to the Mestalla at the start of the season. Villa have also been linked with Manchester City misfit Scott Sinclair having drawn a blank in 12 of their top flight games this term. http://www1.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/9643397/transfer-news-aston-villa-put-back-carles-gil-press-conference
Wainy316
Why when we are buying a player from a club do we have to give his agents anything? The club own his contract and the deal is with them. Shouldn't agents (if they have to have anything) just get a small percentage of the fee?

Agents should be paid by the players as they are their representatives but as players are clueless and handheld through everything the buying club ends up paying the agents fees. But what legal right have they got to block/hold up the transfer?
Stevo985 Posted January 13, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted January 13, 2015 I'd love to see that made as some sort of legal requirement in football (or sport in general) that an Agent's fees must come from the player. That's the thing that would drive down agent fees, because they would then have to be competitive. Currently they can charge what they like because it doesn't make a difference to a player as he's not paying. As long as they get good players on their books then clubs will buy them and have to pay the fees. There's no incentive for agents to lower their fees. Richard
If the law was that they were funded through players, you'd just get players asking for larger signing on fees (ridiculous in itself) or loyalty bonuses from the team they are departing if they have not requested a transfer in the first place (also ridiculous) or higher wages as it will be the agent negotiation that Paying the agent is a finders fee
Supervillan78
All agents fee's should be a non-negotiable fixed amounts.
villa89
But what legal right have they got to block/hold up the transfer? They don't have any legal right, it's the player who signs the contract. But when the player just leaves everything up to the agent then it's the agent the club is talking to and the player won't sign anything until his agent gives him the ok. AValon
Another two signings and I'll be happy......particularly if one happened to be Dembele, which is highly unlikely but stranger things and all that.
Bunnski
I'd like to see another winger and a striker on loan. If Delph goes then he will need replacing also.
