I don't think I've ever eaten a marrow in my life. They seem to exist as a food entirely so that people can grow enormous versions of them First time I have ever heard it called a marrow

I actually went to a veg show by accident last year, it was weirdly fascinating, the three identical onions competition, the four identical carrots, the shiniest tomato. Our pumpkins have been a disaster this year, but usually I would be making soup, pumpkin pie and multi purpose pumpkin puree for pasta sauces, curries, bulking etc. Amazing how many meals one will do. In fact I think the reason Jesus managed to make the feeding of the 5000 work with a loaf of bread and two fishes was that someone else had a pumpkin.
