In days of yore, drinking used to be working, meetings and deals done in pubs on a very regular basis. Couldnt do it any more though
Popular Post tonyh29
Liquid lunches were a daily thing when I was at BZW... the chairman logged a call one time after we'd had about 5 or 6 pints one lunchtime session .. we had to draw lots to see who responded his call , I lost , think most were expecting me to escorted from the building but tbh if he noticed he didn't say anything .. he was probably over awed to be in the presence of the guy who was found laying across the railway lines after the Christmas party and subsequently tripped loads of alarms in St Thomas 's hospital when he fell out of bed in the night and wandered around trying to find his way out ... I still get involuntary shivers if I ever see anyone mixing Baileys with Tequilla ah those were the days
Xela
I very rarely drink at lunch now... used to every day. 3 bottles of lager in Stoodi Bakers (lunchtime offer - 3 for £5 I think it was!) or 2 or 3 pints of Guinness in the Last Word or Some Place Else or Apres (old Five Ways one). Can't do it now - get too sleepy and much busier than I used to be! Edited July 8, 2019 by Xela
mjmooney Posted July 8, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted July 8, 2019 Ah, nostalgia for my Fridays when I still worked. Run the seven miles in to work Shower and change Full English breakfast Do a morning's work Long lunch in the pub with my mates (one of whom was the head of personnel, so no chance of any trouble) Relaxed afternoon of work avoidance, punctuated by coffees and Mars bars Leave early Call in at Waterstones and/or HMV and blow some cash Bus home

chrisp65
This is the crowd just down the road from my house right now. They're filming the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special and the whole town has been nuts all day. People have been running and driving from location to location to try and grab a glimpse of.... James Corden and Rob Brydon. From my living room window, there's currently a traffic jam and people double parked, cars on the pavement, huddles of people staring in to their phones. I understand the cult of celebrity and all that, but this is just weirdly out of proportion. They're not due to stop filming until 3:00am apparently, so best of luck getting any sleep in that street. 1 1

That means you have just over 3 hours to create a load of Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special cra....ahem, I mean merchandise from things you can find around the house and make a few quid. There was that bit with Nessa wearing a Villa kit, find an old one out and write “Dave’s coaches” or something in tipp-ex. You’ll make £100 easy.
chrisp65
I've suggested to a mate that lives in the street that he sells some hot dogs. His response: "too late, there's dozens of them sat on the kerb eating every type of takeaway" Clubs will be kicking out in about an hour, then it should get interesting.
maqroll
The Irish use a hard T for words that start with TH, and use TH for words that end in a hard T. Strange. Edited July 14, 2019 by maqroll

Popular Post chrisp65
update: there is now an ice cream van parked in the street doling out free 99's to 'the fans' I've had three. 2
sidcow Posted August 19, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted August 19, 2019 I always find it very strange the number of people who look at themselves in shop windows and other reflective surfaces when they are out and about. A friend of mine will ALWAYS look at himself in every shop or office window when walking down the road. At Snow Hill Station there is a window covered in reflective foil right opposite the gates when you are leaving the station. The world falls into 2 categories, those who just walk straight on but dozens of people will just stop a millisecond and look at themselves before moving on. I don't know if it's a vanity thing or if it's totally subconscious and they don't even know if they are doing it. It's just something I've noticed in people and I find it odd. I have no compulsion personally to glance at myself when out and about going about my business.

Any payments to people for nothing in return, really. I used to teach this Chinese lad, who was absolutely loaded but losing money at a rapid clip, and he told me he used to pay women YouTubers if he liked their videos. I naturally assumed he was talking about porn, but no, they were just 'vlogging' any old shit and he was throwing them a couple of hundred quid a pop. useless
I think the idea with giving money to youtubers is that you're giving them money to help them pay for production costs like upgrading mics and cameras and whatever else, or at least that's the way it's usually sold. I've seen a few who don't get many views on their videos so can't be making much from add/sponsorship revenue but have a patreon page and have brought in thousands of pounds via that. At least in that instance they're giving the money straight to the person, with Reddit it's not the user that gets the money, it's reddit themselves, and they must be worth billions already. I even saw a comment yesterday along the lines ... I just got premium to reward you for this comment. I was like ”are you mad?” It was hardly even insightful not was it witty either. Having said that, I quite like Reddit, it's my SM of choice these days but you just have to learn to ignore the dicks. Some of the subs I belong to are quite serious, like the GDPR and privacy ones but I also enjoy the more irreverent one's. There's a decent balance
