villa4europe
We just chat shit very loud if the person in front of us does it The thing I don't get with it is that you're kidding yourself if you think the audio will be good and that you'll sit and watch it, YouTube is already full of videos of live acts you do t need to do it And if you do sit and watch it you'll get a 3 minute video with me talking about how you're a word removed over the song
coda
I've seen people recording the large video screen at live events.

Xela
Fruit machines. Watched a bloke in the pub at lunchtime feed about £20 into the machine, prod a few buttons for ten minutes then walk away with a disappointed look on his face. Where is the fun in that?

Believe it or not but some people make a living out of them. I used to play them quite a bit a few years ago. The allure is that sometimes you can stick beer change in them and win a ton, I did exactly that about a month back and had a wild night for free. Most of the time its tenner or twenty in for money back at best though.

The first one was when I was a kid, on holiday with my parents in north Devon. We were in some sort of social club, and there was a bloke stood for ages at a sixpenny (this was way pre-decimal) fruit machine. Eventually he walked away. My dad gave me 6d, I spun the machine - got ankle deep in a jackpot of coins. The look on the guy's face was precious. The second was in my early twenties, in a working men's club, with a mate. It got to about 9.30 pm, and we had just enough beer money left for one pint. We debated - buy two halves and go home, or stick it in the fruit machine. We opted for the latter. We won - not a huge jackpot, but more than enough to see us in beer for the rest of the evening.

But fruit machines where their is an edge heavily against you making a living out of it is surely impossible?

If you see someone stick 10,20 even 50 quid in one and walk away with nowt your chances of winning just improved massively. If you know how to play the machine you shouldn't be losing money on it. If you keep on top of the machine you can wait for it to be filled back up again and a couple of days later hit it again. The ones with cashpots are easy to read because they go up a certain amount for every quid put through the machine so its easy to tell how much play one has had. There was a report a while back on the radio about the betting machines in bookies, highly addictive and you can spend £50 every few seconds. They interviewed some of the users and they were hooked big time. They'd go with their weekly wages and see it gone in only a minute or so. Obviously the flip side is the occasional huge payouts. A lot of those very high stakes machines are primarily used by drug dealers laundering their profits.

What a horribly sad situation. Luckily i've never seen the appeal of gambling, apart from the occasional flutter on the nags, and that is only a few quid at a time. Ginko
No big surprise there, over the last decade or so we've developed somewhat of a gambling culture in this country. Pretty sure it used to be illegal to advertise gambling but now you can't move for seeing an advert for William Hill or BetFred, and then there's all of the online casinos and poker websites that have sprung up too. I don't mind if people want to gamble, they can do what they want with their money and it's their responsibility, but I'm fed up of seeing the adverts everywhere I go and I think it's pretty immoral the way they go about it. mjmooney Posted May 22, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted May 22, 2016 For all the hysteria about internet porn, I find internet gambling far more dangerous and sinister. These TV ads for online bingo, aimed at lonely women, as if it's some sort of healthy social activity. Just wrong, imo.

I think it's because they banned adverts for fags. A lot of competitions found themselves without a sponsor so betting filled the void and all of a sudden it was everywhere. Davkaus
I enjoy a bit of gambling. Made a few hundred quid over the course of the season, I've started to play a bit of poker as well. Sports betting can be pretty fun, obviously the key is to view it as an entertainment expense and assume any money you're betting is gone once you place the bet, rather than chasing your losses, and sadly there is a very noticeable proportion of people who gamble and clearly can't afford to. I only ever bet online though, there's nothing more depressing than looking in to a gambling shop, and it's pretty telling that apart from on the high street, the shops tend to be in the poorest parts of town. Popular Post chrisp65
There's a street that's part of my commute that is a bit of a run down secondary shopping street. It's got some sort of Greggs seconds shop, I'm not sure what that's about? i haven't been in there so I'm guessing it's bread close to it's sell by and wonky cakes? Anyway, that's not the point. The vast mjority of this street is charity shops and betting shops. Every betting chop known to man is represented. You drive down the street and it's basically British Heart Foundation, Bet Fred, PDSA, Paddy Power. Greggs, William Hill, Marie Curie, Ladbrookes, Wetherspoon, Coral..... It's the street I've mentioned before, where at 7:45am there's a crowd of men in mismatched leisurewear gathering outside 'Spoons. I believe the technical term amongst urban planners for this sort of area is shit hole.
Phumfeinz
That's the way most towns are going these days it seems. Nuneaton is the same, all the previous big chains like Mark's & Spencers and Co-op are being replaced by pound shops, charity shops and bookies. That's the internet for you.
