Sweet little memories

Yes, I'm going to trot it out again, but Crouch's last min winner at Boro was just brilliant, and I've never really been able to explain why.

Also Blackburn away, when we beat them 2-1 in MO'M's first season. Lovely sunny Easter weekend, and we took thousands (I've still no idea why so many decided to go, as we'd not taken that many to Blackburn for years, as far as I remember. Although now I think of it, I think they were doing cheap tickets), filled the away end, and it was pretty much non stop noise for 90 mins. The look on the players faces (Sorenson I recall vividly), when the coach went past the Fernhurst was brilliant. Berger got an equaliser for us just before half time, with Gabby going around Friedel to score the winner. Great day out.

Completely agree about Crouch vs Boro.

I was so happy when that happened. And I'm not sure why.

Without going into it again (as much as I'd like to), it's mostly the fact we were down to 10 men, getting battered, and would have been happy to escape with a draw, never mind get a last min winner. Plus I was there, ended up on the pitch, and everyone went absolutely mental.

Said it on here before but I saw Crouchie that night in Bambu in Birmingham and basically shouted in his face that I loved him.

He loved it.

"Could there be a final twist yet... YYYYOOOOOUUUUUUNNNNGGGGGGGG!"

Oh! That was incredible! Off to watch that now :)

One of my favourite ever Villa moments.

And one of my biggest regrets that I was watching that at home, on my own, and not in a pub or at the ground where I could have gone mental.

I was sitting on the toilet having a poo whilst refreshing my sky sports app on my phone.

True story. Could believe it when the score refreshed.

West Ham away in November 1995 - we won 4-1. Two main memories - two young Hammers fans showing 'porn magazines' to our substitutes warming up (lol) and best of all, Tommy Johnson celebrating with his finger on his chin right in front of me. One of my favourite away days of all time.

Petrov from the halfway line - another great away day.

Carbone's goal in the FA Cup against Leeds. TYVM.

Oh, one final one... Ian Taylor... scoring for Villa... at Wembley. If ever there was a 'Roy of the Rovers' thing for Villa, that was it. If I was that way inclined, I would knock one off the wrist for that moment.

I was also watching at home, but with my Dad (who is a Newport County fan and has Newcastle as a second team due to my Mum's allegiance).  He jumped up and cheered along with me when Young scored that goal - hasn't ever done that before or since with Villa :D

It might be slightly rose-tinted, but I think that's the "best" game I've ever watched.  In terms of, the game was pretty decent (I think Everton were probably the "better side" from what I remember?) and the drama at the end played with my emotions a bit too much.  Also after Lescott did the whole pretending-to-throw-shirt-into-the-Villa-fans thing :D

"Is there to be a final twist yet... YYYYOOOOOUUUUUUNNNNGGGGGGGG!"

Love the photo of him and big mart after the goal running with there ears cupped  :D

They also flung their arms out from the "ears cupped" position at exactly the same time as each other :D

Just watched a few games on youtube, 6-4 Carlin Cup semi final, 5-1 win over Blues. Even under DOL we looked decent. It makes me sad, we can't even pass the ball now. The link up play between Young and Milner, the intelligent passes, the movement.

Iv lost all love I had for this club. I remember one game it took ages to kick off and the Holte End chanted every player and they each replied by clapping the fans. Frieldel, Bouma, Mellberg, Laursen, NRC, Young, Milner, Barry, Gabby, Carew. Sad to say I couldn't care less about the bunch of players we have now.

For me, cup wins dont mean anything unless you win the thing. That Carbone goal just reminds me of how awful we were in the final. Ultimately unless you win a cup it doesnt have the same effect on my as a Premier League game that always count for something. Like when United beat us 3-2 after going 2-0 up famously, they lost in the next round to Boro so I doubt United fans give a toss about that game now (obviously they have won so much anyway).

I watched the everton 2-3 in a pub in leeds full of everton fans, that Young winner is the kind of moment that makes all this bullshit football fandom worth it.

Other moments for me in recent years often feature me watching with a friend of mine who is a fan of the other team

Big John's second half hat trick at Reading (I was watching with a Reading fan)

Gabby's late winner at West Ham under Houllier and the away end went absolutely mental, probably the best moment I've had at a game

The 1-2 win at Arsenal when Bent had put us two up, watched in a pub in Germany and won £230 after we held on.

Beating Chelsea on NYE under Mcleish with one of my best mates who's a Chelsea fan and I Won £300 backing us.

The 6-1 against Sunderland I was in a big group watching in Cambodia including a Sunderland fan who'd been giving it the big'un, kicked off at 2am local time, probably the most drunk I've ever been watching villa

Also we lost but that second half against Chelsea in the fa cup semi at Wembley when my old man went on for a good ten mins louder and louder

On this day 6 years ago we beat Slavia Prague 1-0 away, Sidwell scored I think.

We won a european away tie with people like Salifou in the team and I still remember people on here and elsewhere were whining about the performance.

Different times of course but I think if I knew what was in store post MON I'd have bit my tongue a little bit more in those days.
