smetrov
Great performance and result today. But lets not pretend we are anywhere near having a decent villa team . We still need 2 full backs, a decent midfielder, and a replacement for Benteke, should he leave. There has been very slight improvement over Lamberts tenure - but he still has a hell of a lot of work to do.
Isa
I liked it when he subbed Gabby for Albrighton. He usually only makes proactive substitutions when we are behind, so it was both refreshing and encouraging to see. Rovers13
Maybe it's partially due to the fact that he hasn't really had a quality bench option that he trusted. Albrighton is that option. He also brought on lowton vs cardiff this year, changed the game.

We're certainly not that far from having a solid mid-table team that is capable of finishing 8th or 9th, but obviously we've got a long way to go before we're at the stage a team like Everton are at. Folski
Say what you want about Paul Lambert but we have beaten City, Chelsea & Arsenal this year. Great stuff, when we get in the players we need to break down the smaller teams we'll be very good.
AVTuco Posted March 15, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted March 15, 2014 Well done today PL, very well done. When Chelsea went down to 10 men, I asked you to try to win the game, and you delivered by making two excellent changes. If Albrighton didn't come in, I doubt we'd have won. And in spite of Bennet having a great game, I felt more at ease with Clark in in the end.

I agree, he made some great changes, was so nice to see some positivity and belief from the team rather than being happy with just the one point. Played some great stuff along the floor as well shows the players are capable, hopefully we continue playing to this level.

Popular Post MikeMcKenna Posted March 15, 2014 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) Just back from VP. The place was rocking and rightly so. No better place on earth when its like it was tonight. I have been on Lamberts back this last 2 -3 months but he got it spot on today. Last couple of games have reminded me of the back end of last season. More of the same please. Indeed it was Mark. Just got home to bournemouth after a wonderful day! It was great walking away from the ground, everyone was buzzing, heads held high and rightly proud. It's been a long time coming. We have just beaten the league leaders fair and square! We have just beaten the league leaders fair and square! I am still buzzing now Mike. On the way back from the game I heard Pat Murphys interview with Lambert and Murphy commented that when VP is like it was tonight it feels like there is 60k in the ground not 40k and he is spot on. There is simply no place like it and we are deserving of far more days like today. Especially those like you who have a 6 hour+ round trip!

VillaForever1970
Injured players back, settled team = better performances. Reaping the rewards, times have been hard but hopefully holding on will result in some good times..

dn1982
It amazes me how some people seem always look for the negative or blame Lambert for every defeat but then don't give credit when we win! Unlike the Man City game today we matched and eventually beat a top top side we have it in us and the most frustrating thing this season is not showing it on more occasions hopefully a good summer transfer window and we will be set to push on again. Popular Post Ponky
People can think what they like about Lambert but the fact that he clearly rubs Mourinho up the wrong way makes him automatically one of my favorite managers of all time.
