It's not like they've been the reincarnation of France 84 in this tournament, I'd suggest that they're set up as a "counter attacking" team - they need teams to give them the space to exploit (e.g. against an awful Russian team that needed to win to have any chance of getting out of the group, that fustercluck of a Belgian defence) - tonight and against Northern Ireland there has been greater onus on them having to take the game to the opposition and they've been denied the space in the middle of the park that they've craved. Tonight was all the harder without the beating heart of their midifeld that is Ramsey imho.
West
Welsh lack of quality shown up tonight. Belgium will be feeling the most down after this game I suspect.

But that's not really the same as Portugal bringing Wales "down to their level" is it?

kurtsimonw
Well Wales will undoubtedly be proud. Probably the greatest Welsh team of all-time and lost to a team with the best footballer in the World. Hardly anything to be ashamed off. Fair play.
Popular Post Davkaus
Giggs should **** off. Couldn't be bothered to play for Wales most of the time, but happy to get his face on TV when Wales are playing now that he's irrelevant, the **** scumbag.

maqroll
Bale didn't play well and he was still their most dangerous player. They really needed Ramsey to link up the attacking play. Portugal are going to get annihilated in the final.

You're right, it was a remark more out of annoyance at Portugal's general game plan (all tournament long) - though undeniably it's been incredibly effective for them. Perhaps it should have been "drag the game to a level where it works for them", or rather ensure their opposition can't make the most of what got them so far in the tournamen. Alas, for a neutral it does not lend itself to entertaining matches.

Yes you'd expect the other team to win, but stranger things have happened. Zatman
in a one off game with a solid defence and a player like Ronaldo, anything can happen will definite go into final as underdogs though
Zatman
the guy Danilo in defensive midfield had a very good game tonight, broke up nearly everything in front of him and nearly even scored on another note Wayne Hennessy really is a garbage keeper and have said it for a while. he has always got butter on his gloves
VillaChris
Wales just need to be careful there isn't a hangover now. On the pitch. I remember Bosnia made the last world cup and then had a really poor start to the euro qualifiers, lost at home to Cyprus which cost them big time. Wales aren't in the hardest group ever but games with ROI will obviously be tough due to the local factor, Austria were garbage this tournament but still have talented players and Serbia are that wildcard side full of maverick footballers. Although their mental fans will probably deduct them points. Worth remembering only group winners make it and rest go in play offs so a lot of these nations that have had the time of their lives at this tournament won't be making the world cup. Wales should be capable of making the next two tournaments so that's how you start properly building up football in the country. dont_do_it_doug.
Wales were pathetic tonight. The quality shown in this tournament overall has verged on dreadful. Portugal barely had to turn up, in a semi final.

Zatman
I wouldnt say France have shown that much flair. last 2 games a lot of their goals came from long balls up to Giroud
Wainy316
France have hardly set the world alight. Had a very easy run and in it that run: needed injury time to beat Romania and albania couldn't beat switzerland scraped past iteland beat Iceland, albeit convincingly but what a nice quarter final opponent for them. think they might be in for a rude awakening tonight against Die Mannschaft.
rodders0223
If Portugal win the tournament I will be livid. Abysmal team. Shouldnt even got through to a knockout stage.
