KSV
Let him go. Can get plenty of better attacking players for 8 million. What's Belhanda up to
Rob182
Belhanda is playing for Arsenal on my football manager game, so I think we should sign him.....
maqroll
Cleverley would be awesome if he was 4 inches taller and named Gareth Bale
villa4europe
Gareth Bale spends hours at the Real Madrid training ground trying to emulate the mastery of the tom cleverley side ways pass
The Fun Factory
Still not sure on him. Seems very much like Westwood but will cost x 4 as much. Looks as about as likely to score a goal as Westwood, another one of our problems. I'd rather Villa spent this rare cash on a centre foward, or a attacking wide player. Dr_Pangloss
Average player and not worth £8m.
villa4europe
Or for £0 next summer... Based on what I've seen of him so far the likes of Everton won't be coming in for him, it'll be us if we want him v The likes of Stoke and hull
DCJonah
I've been disappointed with him so far. I expected more.

gwi1890
It's more to do with tactis/ manager Did Bertrand look like the same player as we had last season last night?

AVTuco Posted November 25, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted November 25, 2014 I think Cleverly is a classy player. Not flashy or anything, just good quality. He is too much like Westwood, but I'm happy he's here.
Isa
Shouldn't pay anything more than £4m for him given the contract situation. The manager also needs to accept what he is and never give him any sort of offensive role again, he offers nothing on the ball.
AVTuco Posted November 25, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted November 25, 2014 Money is a problem, I agree. He may not be a fit here because of that. Nevertheless, I like him.
sexbelowsound
I'm going to be honest, I haven't seen much of Cleverley before he came to us. I actually prefer watching other leagues for what its worth. Anyway, What is it that Cleverley did at United that he isn't doing here? Or, Is he just not very good? villa4europe
From what I saw of him not a lot is different, he kept the ball, passed it to better players, gave them an out ball, was a very simple player IMO like an enabler, enables the better players to play, almost I suppose like what biscuits does at barca (but without the world class off the ball stuff) gets it, gives it, rinse and repeat Problem is here he has Westwood who is exactly the same and then there aren't better players who can play off him

That's just it, he wasn't a creative player at United either which is why they dropped him to a deeper role in the end.

I'd question whether Lambert has any intention of bringing in a proper creative midfielder. I hope i'm wrong. We've been linked with plenty it just seems to be the one that never comes off.

Under Martinez at Wigan he was very creative, played further forward - or at least appeared to be.
