vandaq
It really is, specially in our predicament. Really nice business from Lambert if you look at it like that.
Con
He might not have got rave reviews at Liverpool but he would have learned from that experience. It is always hard in your first season in the Premier League.
vandaq
He didn't get rave reviews there because he was often their weakest link. Looked horrible when he went attacking, though as many others pointed out, he was pretty decent at defending. Hopefully we won't see much of him going forward. Still, he is better than what we got and it's damn cheap as well. We still need something in the midfield, preferably something that can take charge pretty quick, we need a leader there. A midfield trio of Delph, Cole, Richardson and Westwood feels a lot better than last years potential of Delph, Sylla, Eh Ahmadi and Tonev! Add N'Zgobia, a possibly fit Gardner and the young Grealish then it's not an awful looking midfield anymore. Strangely enough, after looking so promising for a while it's now our striking options that look weak. Benteke injured, Kozak injured, Weimann and Gabby lacking form and no more Helenius or Bowery (as bad as they were). Bent's back but not on fire and looks a little like he spent most of the summer in Greggs with Holt so I'm hoping the lack on a no.9 in the squad indicates there will be some movement here. HanoiVillan
Positives: He's cheap He's only 26 He's played well in the past at some top European teams Negatives: He was mostly pretty dreadful for Liverpool He doesn't speak too much English by the sound of it He's our billionth left-back and we're over the squad-size limit. Overall, I'm in favour if he's not a complete muppet and we get rid of at least two of Bennett, Stevens, Baker and Clark (preferably the first two, but at this point whatever). To complete the ideal summer now, we'd sign a good DM, sell Bent and get a promising and exciting young striker on loan. I know these things won't happen, but a man can dream. VillaChris
Didn't pull up any trees at Liverpool did he? I actually saw him play for Valencia at the weekend at the Emirates cup live, looked o.k and surely we will sign a decent left back this century?! HanoiVillan
A midfield trio of Delph, Cole, Richardson and Westwood My thoughts as well. Are any of them playing wide, or are they all standing in the centre circle?

Well, the Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy Trilogy managed five books in the end. Do feel foolish for not noticing that one though! Vive_La_Villa
Definitely would be a good signing for us. Ok wasn't great at Liverpool but this was a team going for the title and he was part of a defence that didn't get much protection at all. Would be happy if we sign him. Good team? It looks like a team with a very good chance of staying up. The problem as always is one or two injuries to key players and we fall apart. JoeParker91
Personally I wouldn't have Richardson ahead of Westwood in that position.

TrentVilla Posted August 7, 2014 Moderator Share Posted August 7, 2014 On the one hand, he can't possibly be as bad as either Bennett or Luna. On the other, it's another cheap-as chips signing for Lambert, and not many of those have worked out for him. Hopefully he isn't going to send his alleged £10m on 5 more £2m players. I'd rather see a chunk of it go on a very good midfielder. The problem is though Risso even if he can afford say £8m for a midfielder the issue is the wages such a player would command just aren't an option. TrentVilla Posted August 7, 2014 Moderator Share Posted August 7, 2014 Well Kendrick says that it's no where near being complete and we have yet to reach agreement, but he says we are definitely interested. Trent says that it could be completed as early as today. Kendrick aye…
Mr_Dogg
We'd all be pretty excited if he hadn't had that spell at Liverpool! He's certainly a higher calibre of player than any we've signed recently and he'll likely be better than last season after some experience in the league.
