PieFacE Posted May 16, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted May 16, 2014 I really can't wait for E3. Halo running at 60FPS and a brand new engine is gunna be awesome! Any time you transition to a new platform, there is the opportunity to look at things with a new perspective. For us at 343 Industries, the launch of the Xbox One was an opportunity to think about what stories we wanted to tell, how to tell them, and how best to push the “Halo” franchise to showcase the platform. And, most importantly, combining our passion for “Halo” with the vocal and informative input from our fans. “Halo” isn’t simply a perennial game franchise, it’s a part of the Xbox platform itself. In terms of innovation and ideation, it’s sometimes important to people who might not even play “Halo.” And of course it’s a passion and an essential experience for two generations of gamers. So we asked ourselves, how do we begin and where do we go with “Halo” on Xbox One? In the past, “Halo” games have pushed the Xbox forward, showcasing the console and its ecosystem in entertaining and innovative ways. Making a “Halo” game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial. It’s a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the “Halo” game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One. I’m happy to reveal that “Halo 5: Guardians,” the next installment in the legendary saga of the Master Chief, will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015. In the tradition of every “Halo” game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project. “Halo 5: Guardians” is a bigger effort than “Halo 4.” That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen. It’s a game that will hopefully demonstrate the talent, learnings and abilities of the 343 Industries team. A game that will incorporate the things we learned from “Halo 4” about technology, aesthetics, performance and scale – and perhaps more importantly, understanding and embracing a community of gamers who love what lies at the heart of this game, and the limitless potential of the “Halo” universe. And 2015 won’t simply be the year of “Halo 5: Guardians,” it will also be a year that offers us a unique opportunity. The opportunity to invite old friends and new audiences into that universe through the “Halo” television series, launched as a unique collaboration with Steven Spielberg and some of the finest creative minds in the business. A series that will stand alone, as well as complement and enrich the game experience. We’ll have more to share on the “Halo” television series as we near its projected fall 2015 release. Your Journey Begins in 2014 Many fans noted that I was very deliberate with my phrasing on stage at E3 last year. I spoke about a “journey,” rather than a destination – and that journey definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap, rather than one small step. We’ll give you much more information about our plans for this year at the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing on June 9, and we’re confident that “Halo” fans will be pretty excited about the special plans we have in store. So until E3, I’d like to express my gratitude to our massive and varied Halo community, whose energy, enthusiasm, criticism and kindness are the driving force behind what we do and what we hope to achieve in “Halo 5: Guardians.”
PieFacE Posted May 16, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) Going by that statement it's widely thought that Halo 2 Anniversary will be out at the end of this year. I played that game so much, looking forward to that! Edited May 16, 2014 by PieFacE

PieFacE Posted May 16, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) To be honest, I haven't really enjoyed a Halo game since Halo3. I thought Halo Reach and Halo ODST and (or whatever it was called) Halo4 were pretty bad. Really hoping they do something great with a next-gen engine. I'd like to see some gametypes with HUGE maps and 64players, with lots of vehicles (like BF). But also some decent small close combat maps with a lot of vertical space (like Titanfall) If they could achieve that but put the Halo feel on it I think it could be a cracking game. In multiplayer they should also have two modes, Halo Guardians Multiplayer Halo Classic Multiplayer The Guardian Multiplayer should be in a similar mold to COD/BF where you rank up and unlock weapons as you gain more "XP". Start with a loadout which can be customized. The Halo Classic Multiplayer should be as it is on the older Halo's where everyone starts with the same gun, there's power weapons all over the maps and you have to run to them to get them. No loudouts, no jetpacks or any of that stuff. Just Halo the way it used to be. That would be an awesome game! villarule123 Posted May 16, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted May 16, 2014 This is the one game, where if everything was done right and it was the best Halo ever it might just tempt me into buying a XBO. Sadly they went backwards with Halo 4 and Destiny could take over it if Bungie work their magic again.
Ingram85
Not a huge fan of the halo series. First was amazing then ever since they got steadily worse up to 4 but I thought 4 was the best one since the first. Really enjoyed it. Reach was a good game too. 2, 3, odst were all a bit plop I thought. Edited May 16, 2014 by Ingram85
AVFCDAN
Depends what angle you take on 4. The single player wasn't great but online is the best by far for me, much prefer it to Cod or bf , still playing it now 18 months on
PieFacE Posted October 16, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted October 16, 2014 (edited) Not quite Halo5, but still Halo.... Is it wrong that i'm really hyped for this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUVPoS2-R20 The multiplayer game play still looks really fresh to me! There's loads of videos from IGN showing what 343 are doing with this remastered edition and it looks fantastic! Can't wait! P3te
Anyone getting master chief collection: 20gb day one patch if you buy the physical version which doesn't actually contain the multiplayer on the disc (well, it's got done resources and stuff, but the actual mode is missing and, as far as I'm aware since I haven't booted up my review code in a week, still not completed) I'm assuming the downloaded version will include that patch as part of it (review code was 38gb WITHOUT the patch) Not for anyone with a slow connection! I have a slow connection (well, 10mb) so pre-ordered early and already downloaded/installed. Not quite sure if the additional 20gb patch has been installed tho, should really check that. P3te
Multiplayer patch was supposed to be out today at 10am PST. Got an email around 130EST to say there was an indefinite delay on it. Given that the game is out on Tuesday, that's not necessarily a good sign

PieFacE Posted November 7, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted November 7, 2014 That's not good. I loved Halo but was never a fan of the single player, I never had a clue what was going on with the story, but it seems to be getting some good reviews from people who have just played the single player. Anyway, I'm jealous you get to play the multiplayer this weekend!
