Rovers13
Here's a bit of trivia for you guys: How many states have at least 2 baseball clubs? Extra credit if you name the states and clubs. 1. California : Dodgers, Angels, Giants, A's, Padres 2. Ohio: Indians, Reds 3. Illinois: Cubs, White Sox 4. New York: Yanks, Mets 5. Florida: Rays, Marlins 6. Texas: Rangers, Astros I'd guess there are others but I give up..... Missouri: royals and cardinals Pennsylvania: pirates and phillies Though I'm not sure if the royals play on the Kansas side or the Missouri side

Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers Philadelphia / Oakland Athletics Did the Atlanta Braves develop from the Boston Braves? Yup, Boston, then they moved to Milwaukee, and finally Atlanta. My uncle used to go to Braves games at Braves Field cuz tickets were much cheaper than at Fenway.

villaajax
If underhand throws were still being used in this day and age, you'd expect most hits to be a home run.
maqroll
It's an interesting look at how the baseball way back then was really just a relaxed, pastoral game, not a really competitive sport.
NoelVilla
More trivia- Name all the current ball clubs that moved from another city, and name the cities. Baltimore Orioles moved. I know that because Steve Buscemi had an argument with Andre Braugher in an episode of Homicide:Life on the streets about it. Had to google it and it was from St.Louis Browns

maqroll
I really hate that the All Star game result effects home field advantage in the World Series. Idiotic concept. Wainwright admitted he was throwing softballs to Jeter so the Golden Boy could get some hits for his Golden Boy Farewell Tour. If I was a fan of a NL ball club with a shot at going to the WS, I'd be royally pissed off right now. Edited July 17, 2014 by maqroll
kurtsimonw
I don't mind it. I quite like the whole All-Star thing, and I'd rather it actually mean something. Nothing worse than the Pro Bowl.

maqroll
Lester to Oakland for Cespedes... Lefty workhorse aces are very hard to replace. I guess the plan now is to try and out slug the opposition next year. The traditional Red Sox approach....
maqroll
Lackey to St. Louis for Allen Craig and Joe Kelly. There's talk that the plan is to sign Lester after the season ends because Oakland can't afford him. So we'd end up with Lester back in the fold and Cespedes in left field.
