Denis_B
Probably Shaw but we missed out on a potential gem when Keith Leonard was forced to quit with knee injuries

villanz
Defender: Allan Evans Midfielder: David Platt Strikers: Gerry Hitchens (my dad's suggestion), Keith Leonard, Brian Little, Gary Shaw, Dwight Yorke, or Benteke.

AVTuco Posted January 18, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) Withe and Shaw. What a treat we were served back then. Edited January 18, 2014 by AVTuco

David-Copenhagen
Bentekes form last spring must have been the best any Villa striker have produced. He was not playing in a top team and had very few chances compared to other players.
Xela
Dwight Yorke, a truly world class finisher. Benteke showed glimpses last year that we could get somewhere close to that Edited January 18, 2014 by Xela
blandy Posted January 18, 2014 Moderator Share Posted January 18, 2014 Yes i saw his debut but can't remember who it was against now! Could it be West Brom. Same age as Linekar and although Linekar had more pace Shaw was way ahead of him in terms of footballing ability. Agreed, and yes, Albion away, wasn't it? R.I.C.O.
Best finisher I've seen was probably Dion, his aerial ability and scoring record spoke for itself.
romavillan Posted January 18, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted January 18, 2014 Best I saw was Yorke. We've had a few with immense natural talent though but without the right mentality to make the most out of it, Collymore was an absurdly gifted finisher as was Dalian Atkinson. We've also been unlucky with injuries, Shaw.
