Mantis
I can see this thread turning into the Randy Lerner thread Mk 2. Rename the Doug Ellis Stand after Randy Lerner. Randy>Doug I say we call it the Salifou Stand. In all seriousness, it really should be renamed. McGrath, Petrov, Gabby, I don't care, just not Ellis. If I can quote the fanzine that spawned another forum at the time: 'It should be named the Houghton Stand....... .....not you Ray, this one runs the length of the pitch' made me laugh anyway
Zatman
It's got a name. It's called The Witton Lane Stand. I imagine when he dies the club will rename it officially back to this
Robbie09
I was daft enough to buy 80 shares at £11 each when he floated the club only to see them drop to around £7 the day after floatation. The old bugger has taken more money off me than I care to remember and still acted with contempt towards us. At least Lerner has the decency to stay away and not rub my face in it on match day!!!
coda
It's got a name. It's called The Witton Lane Stand. I imagine when he dies the club will rename it officially back to this I doubt it. That's not Lerner's style (if he's still in charge by then). Can't believe Ellis describes himself as humble.

Robbie09
Why not rename the whole club Doug Ellis FC? That would really test the loyalty of fans of a certain generation! I don't think I could chant that on matchday! Edited January 3, 2014 by Robbie09

GENTLEMAN
Why not rename the whole club Doug Ellis FC? That would really test the loyalty of fans of a certain generation! I don't think I could chant that on matchday! Imagine if that did happen. However, I am sure Ellis would claim to have no knowledge of it and it would be under the guise of a gift from friends. Despite 20+ years of continual advertising he's still unique in referring to it in that manner.
Popular Post MikeMcKenna Posted January 3, 2014 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted January 3, 2014 Ellis: "I" spent £120 million one year..." Ellis: "You can't spend money you havent got and "I" didnt spend it" Ellis: "I like to be humble..." Q: ".. Villa's greatest success happened when you weren't the chairman. Does that rankle with you?" Ellis: "Does a bit because I knew the majority of the team and the staff behind the team were my appointments" Makes me want to throw up!!! :puke: :puke:
