Jon
The ones that really stand out for me, from a very good year are Nick Cave & the bad seeds, Goldfrapp, Jon Hopkins, Agnes Obel, Low and Bat for Lashes. But most of those on Bicks' and Designer 1's lists are also on my longer list Thanks Pete. Wife is getting me Aventine for Xmas. Think I will have to download Nicholas Cave & his seedlings, Johnny Hopkins (recommended by Bicks a while ago) and Alison Goldfrapp.
Designer1 Posted December 23, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted December 23, 2013 I missed it off my original list, but this is definitely up there too:

useless
I have found this website that compiles the lists of many different online and print publications. I guess many of them are the same just rearraned differently, but still.

Every year I like to show my age with this sort of list, by seeing how many of the acts I've even heard of. From the above list, I've only heard Bowie and Cave (not a huge fan of either). I've heard of QotSA and Boards of Canada, but never actually heard anything by them. The rest may as well be from a random band name generator. Keyblade
Well BoC was album of the year so maybe you should change that . My favs from that list are the Tim Hecker and Forest Swords records. They're both electronic (Hecker being ambient) so not sure how much you're into that kinda stuff Mike.

Xann
QotSA Are really quite good. You could do worse than checking out 'Songs For The Deaf' on a semi-retired rainy afternoon.

Condimentalist
Ha anyone mentioned Atoms for Peace yet? That was this year wasn't it? Was a good album I thought but not a great one. Top live show though, even if it was overpriced.
