Rovers13
England would be daft not to build their midfield around Barkley. He's miles ahead of Wilshere imo, and that is despite being younger and missing a season through injury. Wilshere missed more than that through injury. PaulC
Wilshere and Barkley are different types of players anyway. There's no reason why they both can't be part of the England side for ta long time to come. Its good that there are some good English players coming through after a period where there hasn't been too much. Comparisons with Gazza are a little premature i think. The_Rev
Neither of those players will be as good as Gazza.
PaulC
Yes very difficult to be as good as Gazza. Best English player since Bobby Charlton!
Guest
Rooney is the closest we have come and he has never hit the heights he should have.

Wiltshire does not play the same role as Barkley so they could work very well together. Wiltshire gets more stick than he deserves because of the amount of hype that greeted his arrival. He is a better player than many on here will give credit to though.

Some common ones that I've seen on here and elsewhere: "Wiltshere" instead of Wilshere (Jack Wilshere)
PaulC
I was picked up on the spelling of Wlishere before. I have been careful to spell his name right since..... Anyway are Arsenal going to top their group?
