TRS-T
Pretty sure Fash played for England didn't he? (obviously not at USA 94, I mean in general) Yeah he did. He said that Gabby shouldn't play for England, when Nigeria were after him, because he would only get a few caps like he did.
The_Rev
Fash is still my least favourite Villa player ever. I even prefer Grant Holt to him.

Stevo985 Posted March 26, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted March 26, 2014 I think Voiny meant at the time of the world cup who did Villa have playing. And I think he's right in that it was just the 4 Irish lads. Starting XI at that time would have been (from memory) Bosnich Barret Teale McGrath Staunton Richardson Townsend Houghton Daley Atkinson Saunders With other notables being Spink, Cox, Fenton, Parker, Ehiogu, Whittingham So can't think of anyone in that list who would have been at the World Cup
Voinjama
Yeah I meant at the time, so no to Luc Nilis and Hadji. I can't think of any other Premiership team who would of had more then 4. This time around it will only be 3 , which is pretty low considering England have qualified this time.

Voinjama
Guy Whittingham. He was more famous for his time with Sheffield Wednesday.
The_Rev
Idea stolen from elsewhere on the internet, but how about making a "rest of the world" team made up of players from countries which didn't qualify for the World Cup.
Voinjama
Zlatan, Bale, Eriksen, Konoplyanka, Ramsay, Mohammad Salah, Demba Ba, Keita, Diame, Alaba, Cech .Someone try and make a team/formation out of that lot. Hey they could win it. Have I missed anyone decent? Edited March 31, 2014 by Voinjama

AVFCforever1991
He's better than Diame.. He's an attacking midfielder, so hard to compare I guess.. Edited March 31, 2014 by AVFCforever1991

Zatman
Cech Coleman Ivanovic Mellberg Alaba Matic Bale Ramsey Eriksen Ibrahimovic Lewandowski Supersub: Bannan maybe bit biased at centre defence but couldn't think of any and wasn't putting skrtel or agger in Edited April 1, 2014 by Zatman
Stevo985 Posted April 1, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted April 1, 2014 It's a novel idea but I wouldn't be in favour of a team like that actually playing at a world cup. Not counting what would happen if they won it (the world cup would be held by nobody?). But surely this would make people like, say, Bale, not even try for Wales. Why would he want to scrape into a world cup with Wales to lose all 3 group games (theoretically) when he can just play for the rest of the world team instead and have a decent chance?
