AshVilla
Why can't he get in the Norwich side if he's as decent as people say He's played the past few games but from the article i read his first team action has been limited Edited January 3, 2014 by AshVilla
postdeath
Why can't he get in the Norwich side if he's as decent as people say Norwich fans are asking the same: "I would say is still by far the best player we have at the club. Why won't that effin moron start him? He is our key player, we just look a different team with him in the middle. His creativity, his passing, he is class and has just got better with age. We would probably have 7 or 8 points more if he d been playing." Edited January 3, 2014 by postdeath
Isa
Why can't he get in the Norwich side if he's as decent as people say Norwich don't really play the right system to be fair. 4-4-2 their default formation.
HeyAnty
Defour and Hoolahan are very different types of players though so can't see why we can't go after both ? Always liked Hoolahan, clever little player and would be a good link between midfield and attack I doubt we were intending to sign Defour to play him deep in my opinion. Wouldn't be that different to Westwood if played like that. Part of the reason he flopped at Porto. Did Defours agent not say this evening that Villa were showing interest. I know it could be him trying to engineer a move but never know. I would have thought Westwoods position would be exactly were we would play Defour
BOF Posted January 3, 2014 Moderator Share Posted January 3, 2014 Some managers take a shine to players and the opposite is true too. Hoolahan is a very clever player and he's exactly what we're missing. I'd love to have him here.

Bowery gets into our team and is as bad as people say.
ciggiesnbeer
Hoolahan was a decent player, two years ago. Does he really offer anything these days? Am I really meant to get excited about us targeting a bench player at Norwich?
Robbie09
Hoolahan is decent so I'm happy with him coming if it allows us to add a couple more in addition to him. Just because Hughton isn't selecting him doesn't mean he's no good.
villaglint
Ciggies - HH foretold this in his penultimate hurra. Not a great big name but someone who will get others playing better around him because of the way he plays and his experience. Hoolahan fits that to a T and will help us a lot (I hope) especially at home

To be honest though even a happy clapper like myself has a hard time getting excited about this one. At least with the summer signings there was the whiff of the unknown and possibilities of youth. With this... well, feels like a step back somewhow.

Don't think Defour will happen but him, Delph and Hoolahan looks quite a decent midfield and KEA, Westwood, Bacuna and Sylla as back ups
Spoony
You know what they say: If you couldn't get Wesley Sneijder, get Wesley Hoolahan

Big_John_10
Short term fix would be ok, I'd like to think in the summer we'd invest in better and have someone like hoolahan as a strong squad player.
Phumfeinz
Thought he was younger. Bit of experience is crucial for us though, good stuff.
RMB
Like him. Think he could help us keep possession better however I worry that he's into his thirties. I suppose he wouldn't be expected to be sprinting down the wings so his experience on the ball is what they're looking at. I'd be happy to see this deal done. GENTLEMAN
I think a signing or two before the Arsenal game would galvanise everybody and help us get the victory. Edited January 3, 2014 by GENTLEMAN

samjp26
Hoolahan may be able to do a short term job I guess. Lambert knows him well and £1.5m sounds within our budget. Edited January 3, 2014 by samjp26
