NurembergVillan Posted January 18, 2014 Moderator Share Posted January 18, 2014 I liken it to putting your car in a garage at the bottom of the garden and leaving it to get full of mice and bird nests.
MikeMcKenna Posted January 18, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted January 18, 2014 I obviously get the bashing of Doug but that man seriously cares about this club He doesn't and never did - he only ever "seriously" cared about "Doug Ellis"
Ulver
Absolute bollocks. Say what you like about Doug but he loves the Villa
nazvfc
Absolute Bollocks - say what you like - Doug Ellis Loves Doug Ellis. That's why he tried to wipe out any memories of the league Champions and European Cup Winners. Did nothing to honour them or to commemorate them - A TRUE Villa fan would cherish those memories and not try to wipe them off. If he loved them so much (like ****) why did he not have them come back and parade the players on the pitch and honour them when it was the 20th Anniversary - Why because he hates it that he did not have a part to play in it. Paraded himself around Wembley at teh F A Cup final taking all the adulation from the fans directed at HIM. Egocentric knob of the highest order HD Ellis OBE (Obscenely Big Ego). By the way I think you get the message I can't stand the F****r Edited January 18, 2014 by nazvfc

Spoony
I know I've chipped into it but this conversation is totally irrelevant. Where is Randy? What does he look like now? I don't know if I'd even recognise him on the street.

thetrees
I liken Randy's absence to having put your car in the garage for a complete engine rebuild. He is just staying clear to let the mechanics do their jobs but quietly can't wait to see it back on the road again. No point travelling 4000 miles to see how their getting on when he can phone/skype them everyday. Also with finances being so tight at the moment it would look almost hypocritical to be spending zillions flying over every week wouldn't it? WSJ seem to think that it costs about $20000 one way, which I doubt takes into account wear and tear on his $50m aircraft. Of course, that was from his old home in East Hampton. He now lives in Cleveland, which is 660 miles further, or around 75 minutes more. srsmithusa
I'm a villa fan in the states. Let's see, I can pay 1 thousand dollars round trip flight plus a room, or watch it on tv. Nearly all are televised. Only missed 1 league match this year. Plus, I know from the lips of one of the three that RL, PF, PL, talk on the phone nearly every day and several times a day during a window. RL has never been one who wanted to be spotlighted. Reading too much into it, I think
TRO
Does joe Lewis spend many days at white hart lane or did jack Hayward spend much time at Molineux. Not sure what relevance this has other than cosmetic/emotional satisfaction. He clearly has acquired the "fly in ointment" status.....the easy target for all villa' s ills Edited January 18, 2014 by TRO

Villaninireland
Absolute bollocks. TRO
Never hated Doug, because hate becomes a burden and I wouldn't let him burden me. Those that have seen him at close quarters will know, that aston villa was only ever a vehicle to carry Doug's enormous ego around. One of Doug's biggest failings was being unable to see what most people on the peripheral of his circle thought of him.....sure he had his cronies who benefitted from his corporate hospitality. Doug has always been a committed attendee of aston villa football club, because aston villa is the very oxygen that allows his ego to breathe.
