darrenm
After a hard day yesterday I'm enjoying a few spitfires tonight. It's the Ubuntu of ales; sneered at by purists but still a good solid choice.
StigVillan
I like Spitty. Good jaunty beer. Harmless really. Like Bishop's Finger.
Jimzk5
Old Speckled or Golden Hen Golden all day long. The old speckled is nice, just a bit to heavy for me
Tegis Posted October 21, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted October 21, 2013 The old Fox opposite the Hippodrome served a good Old Speckled Hen. At least it did 5 years ago
mikeyp102
Golden Champion goes down very well, in fact far to well, could easily hammer down a few bottles in a session

Chindie Posted October 21, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted October 21, 2013 Went to Frankie and Benny's tonight. Couldn't see any proper beer so went with the only one I didn't recognise, Samuel Adams. What a bucket of piss. Tasted like a dodgy Carling. Like. It's foul. Tastes like someone left it in a tin bath in their garden for a couple of months before bottling it.
StigVillan
"like dodgy Carling" Carling taste pretty dodgy to begin with, so....
coda
I really want to sample some Sam Adams now. Had some Fursty Ferret which was nice but a little too hoppy for my lager palate.
StigVillan
Fursty Ferret and Waggledance were my first real ales...my dad gave me them for a Christmas treat when I was 17.

It sounds like the importer is letting it go off.
stuart_75
Sam Adams is great beer. But I have stopped buying it for a couple of reasons. 1. No longer imported, brewed in the UK. 2. As its no longer imported, the 355ml bottles have been replaced with 330ml ones, but the price remains the same. If anyone pulls the same trick with Blue Moon, then I'm going to claim political asylum in the US.
StigVillan
I'm not sure what to think about Sam Adams. A lot of disagreement. Might have to try it myself...

Jon
A video of the IMBC, a 4 day beer festival in Manchester 3 weeks ago for craft beer enthusiasts/people that love good beer/ale. I don't have sound at work so can't hear what's being said, but it looks a good video! http://vimeo.com/77638987
darrenm
So just hypothetically, spitballing, out on a limb here, if I did organise a night at the Wellington for a few good quality beers, who would turn up?
