Eames
I had a Ford Fiesta as a courtesy car. Sent it back and begged them for something different. What an absolute pile of poorly designed plastic shite. Then they sent me a Nissan Micra with a crazy revvy 3 pot engine. Had an absolute ball chucked that about. I remember driving a Micra for about a week and it was by an absolute mile the worst car I've ever driven. The lean going around bends was utterly hilarious. They're designed for pensioners. The fun all came from how terrible it was, and in that sense it was a great laugh.

Ford I believe are of the opinion that the Fiesta is a car to be proud of.
darrenm
Had a new Fiesta as a hire car in Majorca. Chassis seemed OK but engine was far slower than it should have been for the size.
chrisp65
I think maybe there's more than one set up with any Ford? Which makes comparisons a bit tricky. I had a short period of time where I was being left Ford Focuseses as hire cars. Whilst they were almost always blue, the driving experience in all of them was always very different. Some were underpowered, some were fine, some had soggy clutches or shitty gear changes, some were really neat. To me, they all looked like metallic blue Ford Focusi. None of them were any sort of 'special' with a big S on the badge or go faster roof and bonnet stripes. Some had hard seats with protrusions right at the point of your kidneys that presumed you went in at the middle and didn't have a little bit of timber about you. I didn't like those.
darrenm
Yeah some they hit, some they miss. My dad's old Escorts for example. First one was an L reg 1.6 16v which was the slowest thing ever made. 2 years later got an N reg 1.8 16v and it took off above 4k.
BOF Posted August 12, 2015 Moderator Share Posted August 12, 2015 The chassis doesn't change. Everything bolted to it might do, and in that sense the driving experience differs. But Fords are known for having a great chassis and a Fiesta (with a non-pensioner spec) is a cracking car.

omariqy
How crap are Motorpoint? Asked for a quote on PCP for a used BMW 3 series. It was bloody more expensive than buying brand new. Then again the APR was 14.9%!!!!
V01
Car insurance renewal is due the end of next month, Is there anywhere decent to get a quote from or am I best just hitting the comparison sites? FORD MONDEO ZETEC TDCI (130) Hatchback Engine Capacity 1998cc 6 years NCB With Kwik Fit atm, guessing the policy will go up as I was a new customer last year. tsimutv
I tried the comparison sites, i would not recomend them to be fair. Birmingham is an awful place to get insurance due to scams and claims. The worst areas are. Small heath, nechells, ladywood, hockley, handsworth, sparkbrook, ward end etc etc etc. Really gets on my tits that certain idiots ruin it for us. Its a disgrace. 5 grand i was quoted with my brum post code as soon as i changed it to my 2nd address it reduced to 1300. Royal piss take by tnucs

Guest av1
Anyone have any experiences with KIA? I've been looking around for a new (used) motor and these things seems to be very cheap (KIA Soul, 2012 reg, 28k miles, looking at around £6k).When things looks to good to be true they generally are, but the 7 yr warranty (which is transferrable to the new owner) is both reassuring and very appealing. Eames
Have you seen a KIA Soul before? There is a reason its £6k. The new Cee'd looks quite smart but I suspect its awful to drive as are most of the budget eastern marques.
Stevo985 Posted September 4, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted September 4, 2015 My best mate has a Kia "Pro C'eed" and loves it. Think he's about ready to change it but he's had it for 5 years. He's never had a problem, although I think he said you have to get it serviced regularly and at a proper Kia place to keep the warranty, which can be quite expensive. But probably worth it. Stevo985 Posted September 4, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) I think we've knocked Qashqais in this thread before. When I was in Ireland a couple of weeks back I had one of the new ones as a hire car. I can report that whilst it was definitely better than the last time I had one, they are still quite shit.As a passenger this one was lovely. Much roomier than the previous one (which was small for a crossover), very comfortable, nice interior. Great. But as a driver the faults are all still there. The steering is so wooly it's actually very hard to control if you're doing any windy turns (which I do where we stay in Ireland). There were times when the car had straightened up long before the steering had. You can turn the wheel about 45 degrees before anything happens. It also constantly feels like the car is about to slide off the road. I know it's a fake 4x4, but I'd still expect a car built like that to be a lot sturdier on the road. Just feels so unstable. That being said, it was the budget version, it didn't even have alloy wheels, so maybe if you get a higher spec it would be better. So I was impressed by the new look (it's a nice looking car) and the comfort as a passenger. But it still drives like a wardrobe on roller skates. Edited September 4, 2015 by Stevo985
Guest av1
I suppose you get what you pay for, trouble is that my budget doesn't extend to much over about £6k. I've not got past internet searching yet, was just drawn to KIA by the warranty really.
