That's the ultimate straw man argument surely? We should take an active part in repeating the errors of our past because those we're partnered with haven't had the chance to make those mistakes themselves yet. FIFA is possibly the most corrupt sporting organisation in history, and it's leader and figurehead, rather than expressing regret or shame is doubling down - according to him; it's not him, it's not FIFA, it's the entirety of human history that is wrong and he's completely justified in his actions within that context. It's bullshit and he knows it. You'd expect heads to roll, you'd expect resignations, you'd expect restructure - instead we've got this idiot being re-elected, unopposed for a new term, while every football federation on the planet looks on and does nothing. Like our politicians, our football administrators are quite happy to sell us up the river as long as their palms are greased. I hope the whole thing burns down. I hope Qatar is a disaster. Not least because the mistakes of colonialism were made without the benefit of immediate precedence. The fact we are all talking about this, including Fifa, means that not only are the effects of those mistakes remembered, they are being used as an excuse to act in an almost, but not quite as bad way. The Fifa documentary on Netflix shows corruption and hubris on an almost biblical scale. Edited November 19, 2022 by HKP90 Typo

Have you watched the Netflix documentary? Its worth a watch, nothing crazy new or startling but it's well put together My only disappointment was that a lady on the ethics committee touches on the Budapest Congress in 2012 and the exuberance of it all, the champagne the caviar the scantily clad women... Thats what I'd like a whistle blower on, the Brazil watches, what qatar looks like for an FA delegate, there was a conference where Qatar hand a stand giving a sales pitch for the world cup and handed out goodie bags for all the attendees... I want to know what was in those goodie bags, the obvious know brown envelope corruption is one thing but I want to know what fifa and chums deem acceptable because I bet its eye watering to your average football fan

Infantinno seems worse than Blatter, but that might just be me being more aware of things now. I find it genuinely depressing.
